Horse of Turin movie review
The reason for watching this movie is to watch "Crime and Punishment" and think of the scene of whipping an old horse in a certain movie. So, follow Nietzsche to find this movie. But I don't know if it was Jiang Wen's or whose movie I watched before, a groom was whipping a horse that couldn't pull the goods.
The film begins with a monologue on an all-black background: Turin, January 3, 1889. Friedrich Nietzsche walked out of the gates of Via Carlo Alberto 6, perhaps to take a walk, perhaps to pick up a letter from the post office. Not far from him, or indeed far from him, a coachman was wrestling with his stubborn horse. No matter what he tried, the horse would not move. So Giuseppe Carlo Ettore, the coachman, became impatient and swung his whip at the horse. Nietzsche approached the crowd and stopped the brutal scene. The coachman was angry at the moment, and the burly, bearded Nietzsche suddenly jumped into the carriage, threw his arms around the horse's neck, and began to sob. Neighbors took him home, and he lay on the low sofa for two days, motionless and silent. Until he finally murmured, the last sentence of his life: Mom, I'm so stupid. Nietzsche continued to live for 10 years under the care of his mother and sisters, mild-tempered and delirious. As for the horse, we don't know anything about it.
Then, in the black and white picture, a horse is pulling the male protagonist forward in the strong wind and sand.
When approaching home, the male protagonist dismounted, and the female protagonist came out to meet him. The wind blew the heroine's cloak, and the cloak hovered in mid-air, and the swirling leaves decorated the heroine's dancing hair.
The dilapidated stables had a big hole facing the wind. Not far from the stable is a well, next to the well are the clothes flying in the sand. The male and female protagonists put their clothes in the basket, and the female protagonist takes the basket home.
See here, the following is the over-interpreted part. The line between the male and female protagonists is very clear: the male protagonist did not help the female protagonist collect clothes, revealing that the male protagonist may be a person who will not easily break the status quo and accept new ideas and changes in life.
first day
All are interior views.
Dressing shots:
appeared for the first time. This time, it is from the left side of the heroine. The hero is staring at the heroine almost all the time. The shawl of the heroine in the middle has fallen off, and the heroine doesn't care. In the follow-up, when the male protagonist's clothes are about to be put on, the picture cuts to the right side of the female protagonist. The male protagonist put on his clothes and lay down, and the female protagonist hung up the male protagonist's clothes and packed up his shoes before returning to pick up the shawl from the ground.
This reflects the asymmetry of this relationship from the side.
Cooking shots:
The hostess took two potatoes from the box and boiled them in a pot on the stove. During the waiting time, she sat on the bench by the stove and looked at the desolate scenery and falling leaves outside the window, wondering if she was in the mood. As lonely as this landscape. Solitary potatoes lay in the pot like stones, cooked and salvaged into bowls. After the female protagonist set the plate, she walked over to the male protagonist and said the first sentence of the film: eat (KISI, transliteration).
Eating shots:
For the first time, the male protagonist entered the mirror from the front. He quickly peeled off the potato skin with his right hand, and raised his left eye to look at the female protagonist halfway through the meal. After the male protagonist finished eating, he sat on the bench beside the stove, and the female protagonist in the picture was eating potatoes in a slow and methodical manner. The two of them didn't finish their potatoes. Explain that eating potatoes to satisfy one's hunger and to survive is not a sensual enjoyment.
the next day
Divided into indoor perspective and outdoor perspective.
outside view
Water shot:
Life is inseparable from water. In the morning, the heroine took two iron buckets and went out to fetch water. The distance of a few hundred meters seemed to travel several kilometers. This classic water-pulling scene is also the material for the movie poster. When the female protagonist is staggering in the wind, the audience may begin to wonder why the male protagonist doesn't fetch water. Combined with the performance of the male protagonist when he changed clothes on the first day, it can be guessed that the male protagonist may be paralyzed on one side.
Horse Shed Shots:
The wind was still so strong, the bad weather, the harsh environment, and the hay forage that could not be effectively replenished by physical strength, the horses were unwilling to travel far and could not walk.
Inside view:
Dressing shot:
When the female protagonist came back from the water, the male protagonist who slowly propped up from the bed followed the female protagonist, then coughed tactically, signaling the female protagonist to come and get dressed. The perspective of dressing this time is similar to the perspective of the first day. The female protagonist didn't come over immediately, and the angry male protagonist began to change his own clothes. He couldn't take off his shoes and started roaring at the female protagonist. The dressing perspective is still on the right side of the heroine.
Housekeeping Shots:
The male protagonist chops firewood and ties the clothesline, while the female protagonist does laundry. Each has its own business, and each has its own division of labor.
The second time to eat, from the perspective of the heroine, the heroine slowly peeled the potato, slowly put it in her mouth, and kept looking at the food on the plate. This time, the meal was not finished, and the extra salt shaker on the table was cleaned up. Potatoes that are not eaten indicate that potatoes are only food for hunger and cannot bring a good experience of touch and senses.
The neighbor (let's call it a neighbor, maybe something is wrong) came over to borrow wine and said something the male protagonist didn't agree with.
Neighbors: It's been turned into ruins
Male protagonist: Why did it become a ruin?
Neighbor:
Because everything is in ruin
everything has fallen
but i can say
They destroy and corrupt everything
because it's not some kind of
Sudden disasters caused by so-called innocent humans
on the contrary
This is man's own judgment
judge yourself
Of course God also intervened
Or: God is involved
whatever he was involved in
That's the scariest thing you can imagine
Because, you see, the world has fallen
So it doesn't matter what I say
'Cause everything they got has fallen
Since they've got everything insidious and cunning
they corrupted everything
because no matter what they touch
And they touch everything
they bring it down
That's the way it is, until the final victory
until victory ends
get, fall
fall, get
Or if you prefer, I can put it another way:
touch, fall, thus gain
Or touch, acquire, and thus fall
like this has been going on for centuries
and will continue
That's it, just that, sometimes cunning, sometimes rude
Sometimes gentle, sometimes cruel
it goes on and on
However, only one way to continue
like a mouse ambushing from the dark
Because, for this perfect victory
The other party must also think that
excellence, greatness, nobility
should not be involved in the fight
there should be no resistance
just the sudden disappearance of one
That is, the disappearance of excellence, greatness and nobility
So now, the winners of these victories
The winner's door of ambush attack, dominate the world
no corner
can hide anything
Because as long as it's something they can touch
it's all theirs
everything we thought they couldn't reach
In fact they can all
also belong to them
Because the whole sky is already theirs
All our dreams are theirs too
They have moments, naturally
and boundless silence
Even eternal life belongs to them, you understand?
Everything, everything is lost forever!
And those great and noble people
just stand there
if i may say so
they stop now
have to understand, to accept
The fact that there is neither God nor God
those who are great and noble
Had to start from scratch to understand and accept this
But of course, they don't have the ability to understand
They believe and accept it but don't understand it
They just stand there, bewildered, and don't give up
Until a light flashes in my mind
finally got enlightenment
Suddenly they realize that there is neither God nor God
Suddenly they discovered that there is no good or bad in the world
Then they see and understand
As a result, they themselves do not exist!
Look, I guess this is the moment
At that moment we can say
They're out, they're burning
extinguished, embers
like a smoldering flame on the grassland
one side always fails
And the other side always wins
defeat, victory
defeat, victory
one day
right around here
I have to realize
and did realize that I was wrong
When I thought the world never changed
and there will never be any change
I did think wrong
trust me because i know now
This change has actually happened
Male lead: Don't talk nonsense, it's all nonsense.
Through the role of the neighbor, the director revealed the core of the film.
day three
indoor perspective
The hostess gets up and gets dressed. Fire and water. Dressing the male protagonist, this time from the left side of the female protagonist. In the morning, they started the day with a glass of wine. Wine is a kind of spiritual stimulation and enjoyment. Drinking a certain amount every morning is in contrast to potatoes. . And the neighbors come to borrow wine, and they don't come all the way to borrow potatoes.
outside view
Inside the stable, the horses did not eat anything. The hostess spoke to the horse and asked him to eat a little. People and horses, potatoes and hay. People, can't eat potatoes, but need to eat to live, which may be the reason why they don't finish every time. Horses, if they can't eat hay, really don't eat them. They don't have the consciousness to live tenaciously.
The third meal was a contrasting perspective of the male and female protagonists. The male protagonist ate quickly and sprinkled some salt into the potatoes. The heroine eats peacefully and only eats potatoes the whole time. The distant guests startled the two diners. Seven gypsies on stout white horses stopped by the well. The galloping white horse can't help but remind people of the emaciated gray or black or other colored horses still in the stables, forming a sharp contrast that seems to carry a metaphor. The guests who finish the water leave a book as a thank you gift, which is given by a man with a white beard and white hair, an image often used in movies and TV shows as a wise man.
The male protagonist finished eating the potatoes for the first time, and the female protagonist left most of the cold potatoes on her plate. The reason why the male protagonist ate the potatoes was whether it was an uninvited guest that stimulated his desire to survive and fight in some ways.
There is an extra book on the table, life has changed for the heroine, the book has brought a different color to her life, does it also mean that it brings belief and domestication.
fourth day
outside view
Well water is dry.
The horse water in the stable is unwilling to drink.
The male and female protagonists were about to move, but they finally came back and did not move away. In fact, this choice is hinted at in several places at the beginning of the film. The male and female protagonists have always endured silently in life and silently adapted to the crowd.
After they came back, for the first time there was a picture of the heroine looking out of the window. The lens keeps pulling in. A feeling of being imprisoned by oneself fills the picture.
fifth day
indoor perspective
This time the dress is from the back view of the heroine. Multiple angles show the same thing, each angle is like a fragment, and different fragments piece together a complete story.
The horse still does not eat or drink.
It was getting more and more bleak outside the window, with yellow sand and fallen leaves all over the sky.
The full perspective of the male protagonist and the female protagonist eating, the male protagonist eats slowly, and he never eats after one bite.
The light slowly went out and never came on again.
Day 6
indoor perspective
On days without water and fire, the male protagonist peeled the raw potatoes in the plate and took a bite at it. Desperate, wanting to live. The heroine, silently looking at the potatoes in the plate, lost the spark of survival in her eyes.
The picture gradually darkened, and the film came to an end.
The book of Genesis in the Bible records God's creation.
Create light on day one
Make air and water the next day
On the third day, land, sea, and various plants were created
On the fourth day, the sun, the moon, the stars, and the day and night, the seasons, the days, and the years were created
On the fifth day, make all kinds of animals
On the sixth day God created man in his image
On the seventh day, the work of creation was completed, and God rested from all his work, rested, and blessed the seventh day, making it a holy day
In the film, the well withered on the fourth day, the fifth sun went out, the people on the sixth day struggled to live, and the world fell into chaos and darkness. Is the seventh day the final judgment?
