Why do wives kill husbands? The answer given by this show is not that different: because men can't change the nature of cheating, or more essential, because women want company, and men want pleasure.
But is this the answer? If it ends here, the show is too clichéd. In order to enrich the layers and the depth of discussion, the structure of the play draws on "Cloud Atlas". Three families from different eras, entangled with similar human nature issues, happened to have lived in the same big house. This drama covers all kinds of topics about intimacy, the same wife, open marriage, cheating, sibling love, etc. The topics are so complicated, I am most afraid of looseness. What surprises me is the coordinating ability of the screenwriter. Each episode can revolve around the same theme, with different variations in three different eras. The whole drama is like a variation around the theme. Feel the main line at all times. The story of Lucy Liu and her gay husband is the most popular and heartwarming. Are they best friends, lovers, or family? "The Pretend Couple" and "The Imitation Game" have also seen similar relationships. Whether sex and love can be completely separated has been widely debated. Is it possible for homosexuality and heterosexuality to have love? This is another interesting question.
But what is certain is that they really love each other. If two people don’t need to use anything, including sex, as the basis for their relationship, but only sincerely care about each other and feel satisfied as long as the other person exists, then there is no doubt that this is what psychologist Adler called true love.
This kind of true love has nothing to do with homosexuality or heterosexuality. It is pure love without any utilitarian purpose.
