I have been to your world

“The whole of life already framed, right there”

Floating life everything has been framed into paintings.

The black cat is you, the white cat is me, and the red leaves, colorful petals and our memories that the changing seasons cannot take away.

I love you / I know…

Maud Lewis is one of the most famous folk artists in Canada. Because of her illness, she has become an alien in the eyes of others, but she is soft and pure in her heart. She uses her pen and the colorful world in her pen to bring happiness to herself and others. Even President Nixon They all wrote to want to buy one of her paintings. The film itself is a biopic, but in general, biopics are limited by historical facts and the real experiences of characters, and sometimes they are slightly stereotyped. But this film may be because Maud, the protagonist himself, is special, a painter, and his pen is a colorful world, so it adds a lot of color to the film. But what I like the most is that the film doesn't focus too much on Maud's illness, and instead of giving us chicken soup for the night, it's in Maud's painting, in her relationship with her husband Everett. Every ordinary day, let us meet Maud, a painter who brings warmth and color to the world. The film was shot in Newfoundland. The blue sky, white clouds, waves, woods, fishing boats and country roads can be seen everywhere in the film. Like Maud's paintings, people feel the ordinary but down-to-earth happiness.

Maud may be unfortunate in a sense, suffering from arthritis at a young age, losing her parents to her brother and leaving her to depend on others. Because of various complications caused by arthritis, she was unable to live independently, and she became an alien in the eyes of others. But Maud is also happier than most people, because in her eyes, the world is beautiful with bright colors. And God was joking with her because she was more "lucky" than others. She lights up Everett's home and each other's lives with her colorful paintings.

The texture of the whole film is very delicate. Years of experience in stage play and polishing in a series of BBC series, Sally's performance is more sincere and moving, as if it is integrated with Maud himself, and when she smiles, it seems to light up the lamp of the world, warm and bright. If I have a statuette, I just want to give it with both hands. Ethan Hawke, the actor of the male protagonist, once again proved his "temperamental" performance with his strength. The first half of the fisherman's image and the second half of the gentle and considerate husband's role were all handled meticulously. I didn't even think about it when I watched it, and I was willing to apply for him as a housemaid.

We all have our own "misfortunes" in the world, but we also have our own happiness, which is ordinary and moving.

  • Mr. Davis (Shopkeeper): I don't know why people pay money for these, my five-year-old could do better.

Everett Lewis: Maybe. Maybe he could, but he didn't - Maud did. Brushes, please.

[slaps the coins on the counter]

    Everett Lewis: You're an idiot.

  • Maud Lewis: [sitting in front of Sandra's window and looking out] A window. I love a window. A bird, whizzin' by. Bumblebee.

    [laughs]

Maud Lewis: It's always different. The whole of life. The whole of life already framed. Right there.
