Compared with many other American films that show racial discrimination, the structure of "Dance of Death Row" is not big. It does not describe how a society discriminates against blacks, and the vision of the entire film basically falls between the family and the individual.
The language is very easy to speak, but it has become a very powerful line. "In the United States, blacks can't get fat!", "We are blacks, will they try their best?" This is the feature of this film, a film that hardly expresses resistance and the characters silently conform to the destiny arrangements.
The so-called tension refers to the things that can make the characters lively. Regardless of the brilliant lines or the courage of the character to decide to meet the challenges of life, in the final analysis, it comes from the character's self-confidence and the ability or persistence and determination to make the master for oneself. These things, Hank and Lyticia are lacking. However, those who live in this way are the most representative. Their difficulties and the inevitable situations they face in life are the most realistic.
There is sorrow without anger, and there is despair without hatred.
