Real Swift: Fighting back because she cares too much

Those who are familiar with me know that I am the number one black fan of Ms. Swift, and I must buy every album. When I turn my head, I will point out a bunch of critiques. Because I usually ask her with the mental standard of a music star, and I always feel that she is naive like a junior high school girl who is in a small group and can't really shake it off.

So when I saw the preview of "Miss Americana", my first reaction was: I'm here, I'm going to start copying the route of "Gaga: Five Feet Three Inches", revealing the unknown mental journey of the music superstar. This trick works very well for me. "Joanne" is the most important part of Gaga's inward transformation, and I became a fan almost instantly. "Lover" is a very Taylor's work. I think, perhaps after venting her anger in "reputation", she is finally willing to embrace her true self.

Ms. Taylor's plight is well understood. Her controversy is like Anne Hathaway next door, too perfect is "pretend" in the concept of the American imperial people. I believe that if making a film of Anne Hathaway's mental journey, the "fake" boos they face should be similar. However, movie stars can only perform roles, while singers can write songs. Ms. Taylor's so-called "bring knife to a gunfight" has written about this vicious circle of public opinion warfare.

I never thought she faked it. She has the most important thing about a singer-songwriter: she writes about her real life, she sings about her real feelings. "Miss Americana" tries to show her process of reinventing herself and rebuilding her belief system, and I think it's too late - she's been successful too early, and she's been naive for too long, and even until the end of the movie, I still feel that she doesn't Did not do love herself.

I don't really want side-by-side comparisons, I just find it a pity and a little bit sad. When God was enjoying the meal, I never thought about whether mortals were prepared. Not every singer has shaped their complete personality like Gaga did in "Five Feet Three Inches". Writing songs is just an inward digging. Process - Swift's songwriting is experience oriented and she needs event triggers. Her life was planned two years in advance, when to stop and when to tour. She loves the process of creating and distributing music, but I don't know if she knows exactly where she's going, if she's ready to sacrifice something for her success, her music, and her current iconic meaning; If you are liked by more people, or because you like it and don't care whether you will lose fans.

Loneliness is real, and loneliness is the least valuable. Gaga talks about loneliness in "5'3", and Swift talks about loneliness in "Miss Americana". Loneliness is inevitable for superstars. "Once you're in an exalted postion, the the next thing is the anxiety about losing that position", the scenic designer Es Devlin, who has designed stages for Kanye, Beyonce, and Adele, has long pointed this out.

I don't think "reputation" is her completely reborn special, I think at least 70% of her was still "revenge" on the voices that attacked her. Call it what you want, she is proving to the world that she doesn't care, but the counterattack itself just proves that she still cares, this is really a paradox state. I once thought that her best exit gesture should stay at the song "shake it off", and since then the rumors and rumors have been ignored - but I guess, it is the truth that she can't really let go.

So "lover" returned to the state of "1989". Pitchfork's review is "

These 18 songs are odes to the things she loves most and knows best: her boyfriend and her mom, the West Village and the West End, and, always and forever on a Taylor Swift album, being in love.” (the 18 songs are Acura sings about the people and things she knows and loves best: her lover, mother, the West Village and the West End, and the constant theme on Swift's albums: love.)

Maybe she will never grow into a strong woman, and she doesn't need to grow up. Although personally, I always like women who are mature and self-consistent: Lorde (loveless generation), Thunder (retro, femalism, politics and power), Gaga (LGBT), Beyonce (femalism, black lives) they have Be prepared to speak up for an era and a group.

But in this era, Taylors will always be needed. Because there is always someone young and someone who is sweet or struggling in love.

So Ms. Swift, just be herself.

  • Tree Paine: Okay, so, I always have to bring up everything that can go sideways - everything that we need to expect. Number one: the president could come after you.

Taylor Swift: Yeah, fuck that. I don't care.
