"Meet at the End of the World", to be honest, this film makes me ambiguous because it is near and far from me. When it comes to protecting nature, it is everyone's duty, and it is very close to me; the event happened in Antarctica, a contest between conservation and hunting, but it is so far away from me. Watching this film, I only hold the original intention of taking a look at the beautiful scenery and strengthening the awareness of protecting nature, so there is neither the best nor the worst. I admire the enthusiasm, passion, utilitarianism, and fear of sacrifice of a group of people. I have no intention or fear of checking whether there is a division of interests. I will not investigate the beauty of fantasy for the time being, but believe it. Because whether it is the reverence of the noble in the heart or the drive of the source of interests, the courage to challenge and do it is already worthy of our admiration. Reminds me of a saying that someone said: being good to someone is either a need for balance in one’s own heart, or a silhouette of competing interests. It’s understandable, it’s all for oneself, but one is spiritual, the other is material, and there are some other things. both. All good, as long as the world is moving in a good direction is enough.

Encounters at the End of the World quotes

  • Werner Herzog: It occurred to me that in the time that we spent with him in the greenhouse possibly three or four languages have died. In our efforts to preserve endangered species we seem to overlook something equally important. To me, it's a sign of a deeply disturbed civilization, where tree-huggers and whale-huggers in their weirdness are acceptable, while no one embraces the last speakers of a language.

  • Werner Herzog: For me, the best description of hunger is the description of bread. A poet said that once I think. For me, the best description of freedom is what you have in front of you. You're travelling a lot.
