Just finished watching L.A. Confidential and Usual Suspects starring Kevin Spacey last week, so you can imagine how much I'm looking forward to this movie. Kevin Spacey is still very good in the film, and I was impressed by the multiple clues in the opening part, but beyond that I can't find much.
In my understanding, the director's intention is to let people in distress know how to save themselves and take the first step bravely. The main characters in the film do it, but these examples don't convince me.
Are you who I think it is? The answer in their hearts should be "No, I'm not." But there's no explanation, which is why those characters are unfortunate. But how can the two of them meet and be compatible?
The protagonists in the film all fell into the black hole in their own lives, unable to go back, unable to get out, repeating the numbness behind or seeking temporary help through hallucinations. I can understand this, and I am deeply impressed by the superb acting skills of the characters. But it's a question, a cause, a prelude, a first chapter of the story, and it draws us in, and we're going to give it back a question, "Then what.
" In fact, it is a simple and rude method. Like the kind of slap-and-slap drama that brings back memories, the film gives its characters another sledgehammer to slap the previous one back off the beaten path. No one can say that this is not effective, it can be said that outside of reality, this approach is so reasonable and correct that it is outrageous.
I don't think the director should put so many stories into the film, which makes some deep emotions to distribute time to other segments. After all, this is a movie that needs to be fanned, and the current strength is not enough.
Having said that, I can't think of how a movie like this can satisfy me with just my brain, so I must be too harsh.
