Although the plot is simple and old-fashioned, I personally like this kind of old-fashioned "revenge of the younger generation" martial arts films, and the story is quite touching. The only downside is that there are a lot of references to other films. The carriage driving in the mountains at the beginning is very similar to the scene of Gandalf's carriage driving in the Shire country in "The Lord of the Rings 1"; the bridge where Donnie Yen stepped on his toes in the fight Duan is obviously based on Stephen Chow's "Kung Fu"; the "witch" is too westernized in terms of image and movement; but Donnie Yen's fight on ice is better than the one between Thorin and Asog in "The Hobbit 3" Duels are obviously much more exciting...
