Just watched the last episode, this show is so F* intense!!!
No one is really bad. It can also be said that everyone's motives are kind, but everyone's social status and perspective are different, and all kinds of contradictions arise because they can't empathize with each other. Even if the two sisters hug each other, Rach Reconciling with Shane at the airport, being so close doesn't give the insecure party any comfort. The seemingly "happy ending" at the end is just a bandaid solution, and the problem will always break out one day.
When watching this show, I always felt that the "heterogeneous people" in White Lotus were a bit hypocritical (heterogeneous is not derogatory, it just means that it is different from other people who are used to a luxurious lifestyle). Rach has always been concerned about the inequality of status in his "wonderful" and "ideal" marriage, Paula despised the superiority of the Olivia family from beginning to end and anything is take it for granted to them, Belinda and Manager hate it Exploitation of the rich but dependent on them to live. They are struggling between wanting a higher social status/job opportunity and maintaining self-esteem, being unable to express their attitude for a while, falling into self-pain, and those in higher positions are helpless and have a kind of "Honey, I love you, but I really don't know how to make you happier." (Of course their empathy needs to be improved?)
It is estimated that they owe a sentence at this time, "it's your fault if you have money and power".
I want to say that you still have to be real, admit your vanity, and don’t play with the upper-class circles while despising material life and aloofness. The important thing is to be able to use the available resources to achieve your own values and goals. By clearly stating your needs, you can properly guide the other party's thoughts, instead of being led by the nose and imagining that they know what you want most (here, I will feel sorry for Berlinda for a second). To be confident in yourself, after all, your value is not based on how much wealth you have and how much power you have behind it, learn from Ms. Wendi Deng, and turn all external resources into your own stepping stones.
PS. I have a question, what is the meaning of the maternity in the first episode? Thought it was an important role at first, but then there was no role?
