The conscience of British society

In addition to telling a good story, a good movie would be nice if it could bring some thought or inspiration to the audience, and even more so, it would probably be able to speak for a certain group of people or a certain social phenomenon like Ken Rocky.

Before this film, I didn't know director Ken Rocky, because of "Sorry, We Missed You", I read some profiles about Ken Rocky, and I can only say that I have a general understanding, I really It may be the conscience of British society to admire and appreciate such directors. It is really rare to still care about the bottom of the society and be willing to speak for the bottom of the society.

On the other hand, many domestic TV dramas, online dramas and even movies are really all kinds of fantasy, fantasy, costumes, martial arts, love or suspenseful adventures, but very few people really care about human beings themselves.

Not every movie, TV, TV, and online drama should take on such a responsibility, but I think there must always be a part, a small number of film and television works, to do these things. Thanks to a conscientious director like Ken Rocky.

Recently, I have been paying more attention to such movies. A few days ago, I watched "The Thief's Family" by the Japanese director Hirokazu Koreeda. On the other hand, in China, there are also good movies such as "I am not the God of Medicine", but they are still different. In short, I hope film and television people If you can create 10 works, one or two will go back to people and society itself, rather than just entertainment, although everyone says that this is an era of entertainment to death.

Obviously, the theme of this film is to discuss the family at the bottom of the society, and some of the problems that arise because of poverty are, in the final analysis, poverty.

At first I thought "Sorry, We Missed You" was said by the parents to the children, and then I thought it was said by the mother and the children to the father, and even misunderstood that the translation was wrong, it should be "I'm sorry, we are wrong. you", haha. It was only later that I found out that it was actually borrowed from my father's work as a courier.

Second, the characters and their relationships.

Mom and Dad, to be honest, these two characters I feel bad for them.

I have always been the least sympathetic to middle-aged people, but the parents in this movie really make me feel bad, because they are really hard, and they are really good parents, even though they are in such a quagmire In the environment, but they are still trying their best to take on their responsibilities as parents. They are really much better than the parents in "Why Home" that I watched a few days ago. Parents who are worse and irresponsible than the parents in the movie are simply unknown in the real society.

Son, I hated this character at first, but later on, I understood that a child who grew up in that kind of environment can only do this, at least he didn't take drugs and do other bad things.

My daughter surprised me, because at first she appeared in the image of a good girl, and then she secretly took the part of Dad's key and caused those misunderstandings, which made me suddenly want to beat her, but I understood that it was just a I hope that the family will return to a good child, but I still feel distressed and cannot bear to blame.

And the reason why I have the heart to blame the children is probably because I will be more obedient than them in the same environment.

Every character is real, rich and full, the relationship between characters, the opposition between father and son, the mutual support between husband and wife but once faintly opposed, the warmth between father and daughter, as well as father and leader, mother and customer The relationship between them is so real.

The whole film is very depressing for most of the time, and the few warm things are probably that the little daughter in the intimate padded jacket accompanies her father to deliver the courier, and the guests comb the hair of the tired mother.

Third, the story and plot.

It is about a family hoping to get rid of the situation of renting and moving everywhere, to pay off the debt and earn the down payment for the house. Dad began to borrow money to buy a car and run express delivery, which caused a series of family conflicts.

The story is simple and true.

The specific plot is very natural. My father was robbed, beaten and even drenched in urine when delivering the courier, which made me really distressed, because everyone has a father, although not necessarily the responsible father like in the movie.

Fourth, the ending.

The ending that was expected to be a big reunion or more like the ending did not come, but the father ignored the dissuasion of his mother and son, and insisted on working with injuries in order not to be fined.

When the picture gradually darkened, I thought my father had driven into a tunnel-like place, and I thought that I would eventually drive out or that my father would have a car accident in the tunnel, but nothing happened, so it was over, leaving people with an unfinished Reasonable ending.

Because this problem has no solution at this stage, Ken Rocky doesn't want to fabricate or weave a false ending for the audience, but perhaps he still retains a trace of tenderness and kindness, and he is not willing to push the family in the movie to a more The tragic situation, so it ends in darkness, leaving the audience a space for reverie. Maybe the light comes when you exit the tunnel?

Thank you Ken Rocky, who is willing to do things for the bottom of the society, and thank the film and television industry for still having such a conscience.

Sorry We Missed You quotes

  • Abbie Turner: This is my family, and I'm telling you now, nobody messes with my family.

  • Ricky: I don't know what's got into you, I really don't. You're a smart kid just like Liza. You used to be in all the top sets. What is going on? Just give yourself some choices mate.

    Abbie Turner: Seb?

    Seb: Hmm-mm?

Abbie Turner: We've talked about this. You could go to uni.

Seb: Go to uni? What, and be like Harpoon's brother? £57 grand in debt and what? Working in a call centre now, getting smashed every weekend just to forget his problems. Of course.

Ricky: Yeah, but it doesn't have to be like that does it? There's some good jobs out there.

Seb: Good jobs? What good jobs?

Ricky: Well there is if you just knuckle down. Give yourself some options. Otherwise you're just going to end up like...

    Seb: What, like you?

    Ricky: Oh fucking nice!

    Abbie Turner: Seb...

Seb: Do you really think I want that? Really?

    Ricky: Yeah...

Seb: Well yeah of course I do don't I? I want to be like you.

Ricky: Yeah, going from shit job to shit job, working 14 hours a day, having to put up with everyone else's shit. Going from one shit job to another shit job. You're just going to end up a skivvy.

Seb: A skivvy? It's your choice to be a skivvy isn't it? A skivvy doesn't come to, you, you go to it - right?

Ricky: I'm doing my best Seb.

Seb: Maybe your best isn't good enough, is it?
