I once read a sentence, [There are some films that can change your life, QAF is one of them]. I admit that I watched Queer as Folk with skepticism, I just saw it as a gay love story, and was puzzled by the high ratings and reviews it had.
Queer as Folk, in fact, is not simply a love movie, or a gay movie.
Sad for Brian and Justin, but not because they can't end up together - isn't it obvious? So how can two people who are alike never be separated? Maybe what I like is always just the Brian who hasn't fallen in love with Justin. I like his James Dean-esque self-destructive tendencies, the Brian who doesn't apologize or explain. But he understood the abstract words of love and giving because of Justin, which directly or indirectly caused that Brian, who didn't care much about anything, to lose his job, lose his nightclub, and get injured all over his body - no intention of blaming Justin. Brian doesn't believe in love because his parents didn't give him that. When Brian said those words at his father's funeral with his trademark smile, I suddenly felt sorry for him, a child born unblessed - father or mother, until Justin burst into his Life, this may be Brian's luck as well as his misfortune.
When I met that old woman on the bus that day, I suddenly understood Brian's persistent pursuit of youth. I understood why he was so afraid of aging and the arrival of 30 years old. If I were to become that dry and dying look , it would be better for me to be dead. The so-called capital of having fun and falling in love actually comes from our youth.
Michael said 【You will always be young and you will always be beautiful. You are Brian Kinney! For fuck sake!】
In fact, I really like Brian, I like him standing on the rooftop looking up at the world in thin clothes, saying [Or I'll jump!] to Michael, and the wind blowing his shirt, I suddenly felt that Brian who fucked around, Maybe that confused look is the real him.
