Some thoughts on watching American Factory:
1. Profit is king. What the "capitalists" really plan and instill in their employees is completely "two skins".
In the American factory, the management held a meeting with the employees and said "there are many opportunities here, many opportunities"; in the Chinese factory, the slogan in the factory is "hard-working, simple, learning, innovative". The purpose is to give employees a sense of struggle, mission and value.
But in reality, what are the bosses thinking? Turn the patriotism and enthusiasm of employees into skilled tools to create profits. "We must never set up a labor union" "Recruit more young people to create more for the future" "CEO (the boss's interest agent) can't handle the workers, so just resign"
What are Chinese and American employees thinking? In fact, in American factories, workers feel that not only are their wages down, their working conditions are poor, and their job security is not guaranteed. They demanded the establishment of trade unions to protect their rights. In Chinese factories, workers say they only take one or two days off a month and work as long as 12 hours a day. They "have no choice but to do it. The more overtime they work, the more money they can make."
Let's put it this way, China's price, China's efficiency, China's speed, and our advantage are obtained by these industrial workers with extremely low returns and great dedication.
2. Partial glimpse into the external image of American industrial workers.
Different from the common image of rich Americans in movies, most of the American industrial workers in the documentary are colored people and are overweight. Life is also very hard, and some even live in the basement of my sister's house and have a lot of expenses. But it seems that almost all the industrial workers in the documentary have a car of their own.
3. Survival is cruel.
The older ones work slowly and are fired from the factory. The saddest thing is that in the end, a large number of people's jobs will eventually be replaced by machines.
4. Is the "capitalist" the one who rules everything?
of course not. Boss Cao said in an interview with the media that in China, taxes, land, and energy are all expensive. About half of the operating profits of China's general manufacturing companies are taken away.
