Voted the best TV series of the 10s by many mainstream media. #1 in the TV series category on IMDB. Happily, this is one of the rare episodes to get 5 stars from both the press and audiences ("The Shawshank Redemption" is just a part of the over-interpretation of the crowd's self-obsessedness), and one of the rare ones that hasn't been in all these years. Terrible hit series. In fact, it would be better if the first four seasons were adapted into a TV movie. No matter how innovative the screenwriters are, they don't seem to have jumped out of the fixed production routines of American dramas ("It seems that the important supporting roles are more abrupt when they receive their lunch boxes, and the clear lines throughout the season have nothing to do with the plot, they are just a smoke bomb"). The roles of the two heroines are not fully developed. If there is no contribution from Laobai and Xiaofan in acting, plus the bonus of the fifth season, there should be two or three places. There is too much foreshadowing in the early stage of the whole play. It is good to look back from the ending, but it is poor from the actual viewing experience. Film directors can bury clues in the shortest possible time through some technical things. I am used to the way of watching movies, and the handling method on TV series does seem a bit long-winded. And the current market environment has changed, and even Aunt Mei has gone to perform the seasoned TV series. (The three actresses of "Big Little Lies" play together.) If the show can add more such lineups, the viewing experience will be higher.

Box Cutter quotes

  • Marie Schrader: So? Tell me all about it. I heard you broke new ground today.

Hank Schrader: I *broke new ground?*

Marie Schrader: That's what he said. Tell me.

Hank Schrader: *sigh* I walked 16 feet in 20 minutes. Which is up from like 15 1/2 yesterday. And I had maybe *this much* less shit in my pants, so yeah Marie, if you and him everybody else in America secretly took a vote, and changed the meaning of the entire English language, yeah, I guess I "broke new ground."

  • Marie Schrader: You're ordering a new rock?

Hank Schrader: I'm *bidding* on a new *mineral.*
