There are three films that my brother and Wong Kar-wai collaborated on: "The True Story of A Fei", "Dong Evil and West Poison", and "Springtime". Wong Kar-wai is good at describing the environment with the overlapping of light and shadow, and likes to tell stories with monologues. And Leslie Cheung and Tony Leung are the kind of people who have stories in every move.
A Fei gave up in search, gave up life, love, and even life. He also woke up in search and understood what he was, what he wanted, and what he was looking for. And this search and awakening is often painful. This kind of awakening is what he wants. This kind of search is meaningless in the end. When he finds out that he is only a footless bird, the pain is even more obvious. It is like everyone is drunk and I wake up alone. Just as painful.
A footless bird stops only once in its life, when it dies.
