There is nothing to say about the early films of Wong Kar Wai

I remember watching this film for the first time when I was living in middle school. At that time, everyone was relatively unfamiliar with the name "Wong Kar Wai". It was only through the inferior posters in the video hall next to the school that we learned that this is a film directed by the director of the film "Mong Kok Carmen" that once made our blood boil, and there are a lot of kings and queens in the film. As a result, a group of classmates watched the film with such great interest. In fact, no one knew that it was a literary film at the time. Great performance by the stars. An hour and a half of watching the movie felt over quickly. In the film, the rootless fate, the emptiness of emotion, the wandering loneliness, and the dark image reflect the social state of a special era. Wong Kar-wai even applied poetic pictures and dialogues to the film, making the film very personal. Leslie Cheung also vividly interprets the rebellious youth with a unique temperament in the film. The unwarranted description of a footless bird in the movie has now become a classic movie metaphor and a representative dialogue of a generation of superstar Leslie Cheung. During this one-and-a-half hour viewing time, I forgot about my complicated studies, the remaining homework and the upcoming final exam, and I threw myself into the video atmosphere created by Wong Kar Wai. The indulgent feeling of intoxication was also experienced again when watching a series of Wong Kar-wai films such as "Chongqing Forest", "Evil in the East" and "In the Mood for Love". But the "2046" that carried too much hope not long ago disappointed me greatly. Maybe in another two or three years, I will definitely still remember the classic dialogue in "The True Story of Ah Fei", or the beautiful strings in "In the Mood for Love", but "2046" may become a blank. At least that year, "The True Story of Ah Fei" allowed me to sneak into the video room to watch it again and again after watching it once, saving my lunch money and risking being caught by the teacher 7 or 8 times in a row. But today's "2046" has made me, a person who has collected thousands of discs, not even the urge to buy a DVD and watch it again. I don't know if Wong Kar Wai is really exhausted, or if we are really tired of aesthetics.

Days of Being Wild quotes

  • Yuddy: I've heard that there's a kind of bird without legs that can only fly and fly, and sleep in the wind when it is tired. The bird only lands once in its life... that's when it dies.

  • Yuddy: I used to think there was a kind of bird that, once born, would keep flying until death. The fact is that the bird hasn't gone anywhere. It was dead from the beginning.
