Dis Quand Reviendras Tu: Four Surprises From "I've Always Loved You"

I picked a movie to watch on the evening of July 21, and the name "I've Always Loved You Deeply" came into view. I thought it would be a romantic love story. So I hit the play button.
The story is a little slow, but because the performances of the two leading actors are very delicate, it is quite smooth to watch. After watching the whole film, I think the biggest highlight of this film is the performance of the protagonist Kristin Scott Thomas. I've seen her "Four Weddings and a Funeral", "The English Patient", "Bitter Moon", all good. In this movie, it should be said that her acting skills can be called superb and skilled. Her sadness, contemplation, pain, indifference, hope, anger, joy... are all on that face. I rarely have a strong feeling that an actor plays well, but this role, I think it's really well done. This feeling runs through the film throughout.

The filming was plain and natural, so for nearly two hours, I watched it peacefully, but during the process, I encountered four small accidents.

The first accident was to discover that this movie with a soulful title tells a cruel story.
The story begins with a younger sister picking up her older sister home. Sister juliette's expression is indifferent, silent and mysterious. It turned out that 15 years ago, she was sentenced to prison for killing her own six-year-old son. At the time, her sister with whom she had a deep bond was only eight years old. She has always been tight-lipped about the reasons for her murder. This criminal record made her frustrated many times when she was looking for a job, and it was also somewhat unacceptable to her brother-in-law. Fortunately, her sister has always supported her and finally found the truth.
Therefore, this movie does not seem romantic at all, and it is even a little depressing and boring.

The second accident was the reason why my sister killed her son. I guessed wrong. This has to do with my misunderstanding of the title before and during watching. My understanding of love is still a bit narrow.

The third accident is a song that runs through the film.
Juliette taught her sister's daughter to play the piano and used this piece all the time. At that time, she also taught her sister. I read the English version, so I don't know what its French name is, only that it has something to do with spring water. But I heard it was exactly the same as the theme song in the movie "The Veil". In "The Veil", it is the version sung by Shang Wenjie, called "The Pontoon Bridge of Dreams".
In this movie, the English lyrics are translated like this: "By the bright spring, there are my footsteps, watching the clear stream, making me wash my feet with joy. I have always loved you deeply, never you forget".
Tiger poison does not eat children. Because of the serious crime committed by her sister, her parents never go to prison to see her, and they do not allow her sister to see her or miss her. After being released from prison, the elder sister once blamed the younger sister for forgetting her. My sister took out a notebook full of thoughts and told her: "I have never forgotten you." ——This song is the title of the song.
But I don't know, is this song widely circulated in France? Otherwise, why does it keep appearing in my ears?

The fourth accident is about songs. But it only appears at the end of the 112th minute of the film. It's called "Dis Quand Reviendras Tu", and I know from the movie that it's about jean louis aubert's work.
I don't know when this song exists in my computer. When I listen to it occasionally, I am always attracted by its soft guitar and harmonica accompaniment, and I am always moved by the singer's hoarse and sad voice. I thought it was a Spanish song like 'tajabone' and was trying to find it in 'All About My Mother'. I didn't expect to meet you in this movie.
It was the last and biggest surprise this movie gave me.
I want to find the lyrics to it. It sounds so good!
I think if a man plucks the strings lightly and sings this song to a woman, the scene will be very moving.

I've Loved You So Long quotes

  • Juliette Fontaine: The worst prison is the death of one's child. You never get out of it.

  • P'tit Lys: The prince went slowly through the forest. His beautiful horse was silent. The sky was taking on the color of roses. "Will I be in time?" the prince wondered. He remembered what the magician had told him. "Night is your only enemy. Once it has cast its cloak of darkness over the world and you cannot tell the shadow of a dog from that of a wolf, you will know it is too late and that your beautiful lady is lost forever. Hurry if you love her." The prince's heart was pounding.
