Watching the French version of Beauty and the Beast on a whim, maybe I don't understand French language and culture, so I can't understand the following points in the film:
1. After the heroine's father strayed into the castle in a blizzard, and found that the door was not closed, he entered the castle without authorization. Well, it was justified that he wanted to find a place to hide from the blizzard. Then, when I found that there was a sumptuous dinner on the table, I actually picked it up and ate it. Well, it was just because I was hungry and cold, and I couldn't help but eat it. This is justified. but! After eating and drinking, I saw a lot of clothes and jewelry in the castle. When I looked again, I found that it was the same as the list given by my daughters, so I took it away without hesitation... took it... gone... Old man, where did you get the confidence to eat and take it? !
2. When Belle came to the castle, she found a beautiful dress and some beautiful headgear in the room, so she put it on. At the time of her life and death, when the road ahead was unclear, she was in the mood to change her clothes and dress up. ? Besides, did someone tell you this dress was for you? Did you change it consciously? !
Above, maybe I don't quite understand the customs and cultural habits of France, or maybe this is what the plot needs. (Standing hands?♂️)
3. The male protagonist is an unbeliever! The first second he promised his wife not to kill the golden deer, and the next second he gave the deer an arrow. It can be seen that he is not only a person who does not believe in his words, but also rude and cruel. When he found out that the deer he killed was his wife, he didn't see how much heartache and regret he was in the performance. He knew that the fairy's father was angry, so he started to cry like a tearful man. Of course, this may be related to the rhythm of the performance, and it cannot directly reflect the true feelings of the male protagonist.
4. As the heroine, after several dreams, she finally sorts out the past of the hero and knows his story, then she should also see that he is a man who is unbelievable and cruel and rude, why does he fall in love with him? What about him? (Black question mark face)
5. When the heroine wants to go home to see her family, she tells the beast, if you let me go home, I will dance with you. excuse me? Why do you think the beast wants to dance with you? Is this honeyed confidence part of French romance?
Well, the above are a few unpleasant slots.
There are still two things that I think are good about this film. First, the picture is so beautiful. It is the world of fairy tales. Every frame can be used as a wallpaper. Second, the characters are a lot richer, and the portrayal of Belle's family is very in-depth, although it is a bit procrastinating.
After the spit is over, if you look at the story from a different angle, it may be different.
A confident and arrogant prince, while chasing a rare and beautiful golden deer, met a beautiful woman who fell ill and fell in love with her. He took her back to the castle and lived a happy life with her. But he still couldn't forget the beautiful golden deer, so he hunted it every day, but he didn't know that the beautiful deer was his princess. The princess persuaded the prince to give up chasing the deer, and promised it to bear a child for him. The prince apparently stopped chasing the deer. After the princess became pregnant, he felt that he had achieved his goal of letting the princess help him have a child, so he betrayed his promise and chased the deer again. Little did he know that the deer was the princess. He was shot by the prince's golden arrow and turned back into a human form. The prince suddenly realized that he had no regrets. What he did angered the princess' father, the king of the forest. In a fit of rage, the king of the forest placed a curse on the prince, turning him into the beast he had brutally killed. But before her daughter died, she begged so hard that the king of the forest would forgive the prince. Therefore, the king of the forest has a solution to this curse, that is, if the prince can make a woman fall in love with him under the appearance of a beast, then his curse can be lifted.
In the following years, the prince who turned into a beast did not reflect on himself all the time. He realized his arrogance, his infidelity and cruelty, and deeply regretted it. He provides food and even grants wishes to those who stray here. Sending away batch after batch of people, he didn't hurt any of them.
Not knowing how long the time passed, one night, an old man strayed into his castle. According to the long-standing custom, the beast served him with sumptuous food and fulfilled the wishes on his list. As usual, he bandaged the old man's injured horse so that he could be sent away. However, the old man seemed dissatisfied, and he plucked the rose of the wild beast, which was the rose of his wife's blood dripping to the ground! The Beast finally got angry, he wanted to kill the old man, but he was no longer the evil prince who killed without blinking an eye, and he couldn't forgive the matter of picking roses. So he allowed the old man to go home and say goodbye to his relatives, and then come to die.
The Beast did not expect that it would be a young girl who came back in place of the old man. He prepared beautiful clothes for her and left a note for her to change into...
Wouldn't it be nice to do some of these foreshadowing? It took a few minutes to photograph how the heroine's father's ship sank in the sea, so it's better to use these few minutes to pave the way for the kindness of the beast! At least show the torment, bitterness, contradictions and changes in the beast's heart! That way it won't look awkward, will it? Did the director use Woolf's stream of consciousness? ?♀️
Btw the male protagonist's appearance does not meet my aesthetic
