Basically, in this type of film, the plot is flat and straightforward, and the ending is always expected. It's hard to say against your will that the plot is too tight and fascinating. However, you should not deny that most of the audience who are keen on this kind of film should go for the punch line. Language is the most wonderful art. What's more, this film has added so many condiments of history, literature, art and philosophy. Are you still afraid that it can't make an appetizing British meal?
In order to let these talented boys enter Oxford smoothly, the headmaster arranged a unique game. The new history teacher was young, handsome, knowledgeable, and most importantly, smart enough and iconoclastic. He brought creative teaching methods and made these boys understand again that true excellence comes from unique thinking, that is, highlighting your personality in your opinions. Vibrant and out-of-the-box stuff always wins the favor of others. The new teacher was loved by all the boys. However, he wasn't always right.
Another very tragic Fat Man in the movie has a tragic ending. He is gay. And it's a homosexual who doesn't get the favor and sympathy of others. The way of teaching is also considered to have no merit. He was of no help to the kids who were going to Oxford. However, in the end, until he passed away, we found that what he induced was life, not just education. "Don't find out how much you love literature and art when it's too late." "I'm going to buy a truck and travel the world with books." "Don't ask me about exams, I want you to do what you love." The fat man's words are actually so thought-provoking. Unfortunately, he could not escape his fate after all. Maybe, rouge is right, history is just one fucking unfortunate event after another.
I always thought that a good movie would always have a surprising ending. The new teacher who seemed to be omnipotent turned out to be a loser in further education. He never entered Oxford. He also just did all the things he liked he wanted to do that he thought was worth doing. What a gratifying arrangement. Everyone is a winner in this game.
In fact, when I saw the introduction of the film, I always thought it was a gay movie. And when you seriously enter the plot, you will find that the plot arrangement of homosexuality is completely negligible. It's just a small snippet of the confusion of adolescence and the self-doubt of a seemingly omnipotent teacher. Its biggest benefit is that it makes the movie a lot more interesting.
