pass it on

I learned about this movie by chance from a friend, and watched it with curiosity. The whole film is filled with British depth and typical dark humor. In just 100 minutes, the content is extremely rich, and almost every line is carefully crafted. Whenever I come to an obscure old English or a large essay and poem, I really want to sigh about the profound heritage of the British Empire.

The main line of the film is actually that two teachers with different styles use their different teaching methods to help these boys enter oxford and cambridge. In addition to this big main line, there are many side-effects. For example, boys can't explain their unidentified feelings in adolescence, Dakin and teacher irwin, Dakin and Fiona, and silently like Dakin's Posner. These interesting little plots make the whole movie lively. In fact, I have to say that Miziguo is really a big rotten country = =

My favorite plot is actually that after everyone was admitted to Cam or Oxford, Dakin and Posner that hug. Because of youth and simplicity, it doesn't matter if you don't get love, don't you still have friendship?

  • [talking about Tom Irwin]

    Headmaster: He comes highly-recommended.

Mrs. Lintott: So did Anne of Cleves.

Headmaster: Who? He's up-to-the-minute, more "now".

Mrs. Lintott: [dryly] Now? I thought history was "then".

  • [Dakin is groping Fiona, using World War I as a metaphor for his "assault" on her body. He moves his hand up her thighs but she pushes it away]

    Dakin: What's the matter?

    Fiona: No-man's land.

Dakin: Ah, fuck. What do I do with this?

    [he points to his erection]

Fiona: Carry out a controlled explosion?
