There is always a nostalgic tinge to BBC films, a sad, yet hopeful, humor. I like the tacit understanding between the boys, such as imitating the plot of visiting the kiln in the French class, and inserting a lot of performances into the poetry class, which is very cute. Maybe it's because people grow up day by day, and their attachment to high school is getting deeper and deeper. In high school, there were not many worries, just like those boys, the only pressure was exams, the difference was that they had to take exams in Oxford and Cambridge (laughs).
In the end, Dakin gave a hug to Samue, who had been secretly in love with him, which I think is a highlight of the show. Especially when Samue complained "That's it, this is what I've been waiting for? This is too short", my heart was completely touched. Same-sex camaraderie is not always about sex as others might think, it can be expressed in a very pure way. Although Dakin doesn't like Samue, the friendship between them lasts forever, and there are many things we cherish besides love.
When people are old, there is always inexplicable fear and yearning for youth dramas, and nostalgia is always sad, even if it is wrapped in comedy.
What exactly is history? Hector said, Take it, feel it and pass it on. And Rudge said, History just one fucking thing after another.
