In the final season, I was watching the fourth season of House of Cards. The color palette was so dark that I was about to blind. When I saw Underwood seeing things exposed and starting to interfere with the election, I abandoned the show to watch Designated Survivor. The first two episodes did not interest me in Catchup. The explosion of the White House and the panic all seemed to be the routines of American blockbusters. However, when the incident goes from light to dark, the most exciting part of this drama is that you will walk with the president for a while. If I were the president of the United States, how would I deal with fear and uncertainty.
1. Be in danger
As the least favored member of the cabinet, Kirkman is also the image closest to our general public. Good old man, no ambition, integrity, kindness, conscientiousness. When I saw him vomiting in the toilet after his speech in the first episode, I remembered the moment when I was on the stage and couldn't handle an emergency off-site by myself when I rushed to the door to catch my breath.
2. Born leader or learned leader?
Another scenario is that when former President Moss commented on Kirkman’s political achievements, he said: You are reacting, not leading. This sentence perfectly sums up my perception: Kirkman is constantly running from meeting to meeting, called by Aaron. After that, he was called by Em and then by Mike... He is like a spinning top. Although everything is proceeding step by step, he always feels that he is a president who is led by the nose. Almost every decision is compelling, such as arresting the governor of Michigan, such as hunting down Majid Nassar.
This sentence also poke my weakness. I often feel that there are some "great gods" around me who are calm and unhurried, but they are fruitful, and I am like a fireman every day, but I draw water from a bamboo basket every day.
3. Trust
Seth thought she had met true love, but the female reporter just wanted to get inside information from him. Emily was lost after finding out Aaron's call history. The two vague romances in this drama so far both died after the collapse of trust. (Jackie&Remy CP who prefers House of Cards...) Emily told Seth that she didn’t know who else could be trusted. I remembered what Ms. Hookstraten said to Mcleish, I don’t believe anyone.
4. Justice
In the matter of power, some people’s minds are upright. He (she) believes that he or she will perform better than the incumbent. He or she needs this position to realize the value of self to society and others, and go down in history. On this road to power, he will do calculations, but he will not resort to any means. So the president told Hookstraten before the operation, although we rarely agree, but I believe that your heart is at the right place. And some people are just puppets of interest groups, Peter Mcleish. He is weak.
5. Weakness
After watching this show, I finally understand why Underwood hates Kids so much. Kids adds a layer of Uncertainty. Whether it's Leo selling drugs or the puzzle of his biological father, poor Luke was used as a bargaining chip to destroy Jason's career, or Nassar's confession when his diabetic mother was threatened, they all captured the weakness of human nature. -Kinship. If Nassar is as cold-blooded to his mother as Claire is to her mother in the late stage of illness, then the plot will be dead again.
6. Women
When I watched Naoki Hansawa before, I felt like being a woman like a flower. However, after watching a lot of political dramas, I learned about many kinds of women's roles in politics. One is the queen type, such as Hookstraten, Emily, Hannah or Claire, Jackie, Cathy of House of Cards, and the other is the queen type, such as Beth Macleish, Alex. They are the people who assist the monarch and stay behind the scenes, but keep blowing (pumping up) air. The two most cruel female characters in this show are Beth and Claudine, the most venomous. . . . .
Compared with the house of cards, Designated Survivor has its brain-burning place, but it does not need to bear the darkness. The president is the light, and everyone else may be dark. Every character in the house of cards is dark, so the audience is always in the dark.
Thinking of the recent war situation in Syria, look back at Macleish's mutiny in this show. We still know too little about the distortion of human nature caused by wars and massacres.
