This is not an exciting and happy movie. Maybe my recent state is not suitable for watching such a relatively depressing movie. Or maybe it’s because I’ve been relatively depressed recently that I resonate with this kind of film and realize something I didn’t realize before.
Although at the end of the movie, only brother Nicola gets the last happiness, in my opinion, when the movie is more than 4 hours into the film, the younger brother Madio took his own life in the celebration of the countdown to the new year. In a society shrouded in darkness, Madio, as a policeman, is unable to rectify the society. No one understands him, even his closest brother and mother. His fate changed during his graduation trip. In order to save a mentally ill girl, he was used to seeing the harsh world. So he gave up his childhood dream and became a policeman. This practice confuses everyone.
So far, the younger brother who is unwilling to give in and the smooth older brother have embarked on a different path. Isn’t life like this? Plans can never keep up with changes. No matter how elated and ambitious you were working for your ideals, the obstacles along the way changed the trajectory of your life. Or some people work hard to accomplish their stated goals, only to find that what they want is not what they imagined. Madio is the second type of person, and his extreme actions ruined his unhappy life. Which category are you in?
It is impossible for a person to not do things that he regrets in his life, it just depends on the degree of regret. I believe Madio has no regrets in saving the mentally ill girl, no regrets for his actions. What I regret is that my original intention was not achieved in the environment and social state at that time. I believe that when Madio became a police officer, it was not a spur of the moment, not just wanting to make a living, but hoping to use his own opinion to reverse the injustice in society. As mentioned in the movie Driving for Miss Daisy, it was absurd and unfair that black people could not use the toilet at the gas station. After years of hard work and struggle, do you want to have the right to stipulate who can use the toilet at the gas station? Give it a try!
Madio alone could not save the society, his uninhibited character made him a distinct person and ruined his splendid life. But I admire Madio's character very much. What is a man without character? Just like Forrest Gump in Forrest Gump, Andy in The Shawshank Redemption, Jiu'er in Red Sorghum, David in artificial intelligence, Tiffany in the line of happiness behind the dark clouds... Each distinct character casts a different life. Not only a happy, rich, healthy life is perfect. Everyone's life is a splendid life full of legends. Even though Madio's life is gloomy, I appreciate his daring character, even if his efforts did not produce the expected results. Who said hard work must be effective? But in my eyes, even if the reality is cruel, behind the success is not just hard work, just as we misunderstood Edison's famous saying, genius is 1% inspiration and 99% sweat, but That 1% inspiration is even more important than 99% sweat. In my opinion that 1% inspiration is really human personality. Personality and hard work can forge a wonderful life, even if it doesn't achieve the desired effect. I don't ask for any kind of over-completion effect, I only hope that my efforts can achieve 80-90% effect. It is also very important to be a human being, and it is also a very dangerous thing to exceed your own degree. Madio may have imagined his expectations to be better and exceeded what he should have, so he hastily ended his splendid life.
After watching this film, which depicts the inner character of the characters so delicately, I am even more looking forward to creating my own splendid life.
Tucao: why did the Chinese directors go, just make some junk movies, and just finish watching them after watching them, it doesn't make any sense at all!
