Not the worst film in 2017, but the one with the biggest gap between expectations

Borrow the last comment from IMDB: The Snowman may not be the worst film of 2017 but it's clearly the biggest waste of potential.

I have read several Nesbo books, most of them are Inspector Harry. Most of the murderers in his book are not difficult to guess, but the atmosphere, plot, and character of the protagonist in the book are very appetizing. While reading the book, Snowman felt that it was too suitable for film adaptation, especially the ending sentence, "Mold is like this, you can't see it, but it does exist." With a strong sense of picture, I directly added the ending of the movie. Many fragments in the book don't need to be changed at all, just use them directly in the movie. Considering that another book headhunting game by Nesbo has been adapted successfully, I have high expectations for the Snowman movie.

But this last film was a complete failure. The director later complained that because of the broadcast time limit, the film he produced was not what he wanted, and most of the script was deleted. I understand this, because the content of the novel is really too much, and the time of less than two hours is really too short. But this is not an excuse for you to make a movie with a fragmented story and a dull plot.

Let's talk about the characters first, the protagonist. Harry said that he was ugly at least once in the snowman, at least he had confirmed that he was ugly, and his face was wrinkled. But the protagonist is obviously too handsome. Moreover, the hairstyle and the upright flat head are a little bit worse, and I don't feel as thin as the book says. The acting skills are quite satisfactory. To be honest, the plot has been cut so much and there is not much room to play, but the feeling of decadence is still a little bit worse.

As for the supporting role, several female roles are chosen very well. Rocky, I can't fault it. Although Katrina was cast as a silly policewoman from Harry's most admired police officer, but the appearance is great. Madiya played very well, and Rafto also fits the image in the book very well. The old boss, Hagen, had basically no role, and the brightest scene in the book was also chopped off. The other supporting roles are not so good, except that Stoop has changed from the image of Clinton I imagined to the image of a bald old man, other things are quite satisfactory. The actor is actually nothing to pick, which is the main reason why I gave 2 stars.

But the plot is really too big a problem. It is not a problem to change the original work. Basically all movies have to be changed. And there is too much content in this book. But the director simply changed it inexplicably. He didn't chop what should be chopped, and chopped what should not be chopped. He also added a bunch of useless original content to it. I wanted to say a little bit, but I didn't say anything clearly. In the end, the audience was confused. Excuse Me was full of brains? There are no turning points in the original book, and some Winter Olympics content is added inexplicably... Katrina's branch line has been cut, and it has been shaped into a silly white sweet. It happened that a scene of high-tech equipment in the police station was added, which inexplicably took up a lot of time. The lover was transferred from Bergen to promote the new equipment. The core genetic disease of the whole story, that is, skin sclerosis, was also completely wiped out, and most of the murderer's motive was removed. Mold cleaning was originally a natural beginning and end, but it turned out to be a young maintenance worker. It is estimated that the people who have not read the book do not know why they want to make it after reading it. Then basically all the reasoning plots are gone, such as the part of the chicken coop, the part of the hospital, and the general part. I don’t know whether this movie is positioned as a detective film, a suspense film or a thriller, because this film has neither reasoning nor Suspense is not terrifying. The most angry thing is that the shameful things I have been waiting for for a long time between Rokai and Harry are gone! Just sit and rub it once and let it go! Can't bear it! In the end, he returned to Orek this kid somehow doing a father-son camping scene, and then he said the beginning and it was gone. The whole movie is basically like this. I want to express something, but I don’t have time to think about it. Let’s cut it down and say the next thing. Then the audience watched it inexplicably. As for forcing the cheetah at the end of the film, I don’t want to complain. Sister Katrina, what kind of bicycle do you want after all?

Then the whole atmosphere of the movie is also plain and plain. Many of the tense reasoning, chase, and reversal in the original book are basically gone, and become the rhythm of the whole boiled water. Harry is just like a normal policeman. After receiving the report, I went to see the scene, went back to the police station to chat, went home to sleep at night, and then suddenly found out what was going on as soon as my inspiration came.

Borrowing from the quote at the beginning, there were a lot of people in last year's movies that were worse than this one, at least this place is exotic and the actor's looks are here. But such a violent waste of the original film really can't think of a second one.
