Finished it in one breath, and wrote some personal opinions based on impressions.
The script is really good, and there is a certain reason that the novel itself is great, and the director and screenwriter's work is also very well completed, so the overall effect can be achieved.
But the front was smooth, until the second half of the last episode, when Danny's father almost voluntarily surrendered to the case and pulled out the deeply pressed line. It seems to be in a hurry to finish. . . ?
The script is basically, Mat and brother go to a party, and the two start pushing outside the bar because of one girl and another group of people in an outdated and stupid way of "slamming with my woman and going out to one-on-one". ; In the process, Mat shoved Danny, the "good boy" in the other party's group, away, and Danny stumbled and smashed the stone on the side of the road to the west.
The timeline of Mat's life changed. In jail, he met a woman who claimed to be Olivia on bail. After serving his sentence, he worked in his brother's office. His parents died unexpectedly. He met Olivia again. The relationship between the two was confirmed. In a house closer to my sister-in-law.
The story direction from that time began to look like a dark and endless roller coaster, but this passage was created by each person, intentionally or unintentionally, so everyone continued to At some point, he thought that he had finally grasped the direction of the incident, but he was beaten to death by a stick that appeared out of nowhere.
Since the episode starts with Mat's story, he also has the protagonist face, so basically everyone thinks that he is the protagonist of the story, and so did I at the beginning. But after I read it all, the idea was overturned.
Because in the last part of the last episode, Mat's monologue still lays out a memory to end the whole story, and in this part, the last piece of the puzzle is put together: he did kill always bullying his cellmate.
And the name of the show, El Inocente, The Innocent, is translated as "the innocent" and the official translation is "the most" (the relative English would be the most innocent...? innocent to the extreme...? innocent maximum..?) And although Mat was indeed debilitated, he did kill his inmates, and he was by no means self-defense in the state at the time: the knife was in his hand, and he threw it away , beat the opponent to the point of being unable to resist, and then threw the opponent downstairs. His emotions are understandable, but legally, he is by no means the innocent.
Looking at the entire episode, the real "innocence" is Mat's wife Olivia, Danny's mother Sonia, and law enforcement officers represented by police officer Lorena and private detective Zoe.
This is also mentioned in his monologue in the final episode when Mat was finally found "not guilty" (no one knew about Mat killing his cellmate), ".... never thought one could be reborn twice, thanks to The forgiveness of a woman whose soul has been broken by you (referring to Sonia), the love of a woman who has experienced hell (referring to Olivia), and the chance to start over (here I personally understand it as referring to Lorena) brings you the power. "
Officer Lorena, a small but powerful policeman who walks with his own background, unfortunately experienced the suicide of his father, who is also a policeman, and became a hurdle in his heart. The standard is strict with himself, and the goal is to use himself to justify the profession of father and police. And she did. The result of being strict with herself is that she has a strong intuition, excellent action, does not stick to the constraints of the title and dares to question upwards, and she is usually the right one. As a result, she also gained the respect of her colleagues and superiors in the police station. Her partner was a follower, and so was her boss. Even though Lorena didn't give her boss any face in front of higher-level officers and threw her police badge and gun directly, the boss turned around and sent it to the door immediately, and then said a bunch of "You Or should you follow your intuition. It is her unique style and strong professional ability that can withstand the pressure from the captain while accurately finding out the clues of the crime.
Sonia, her son was unjustly killed in a stupid dispute of which she did not actively participate. But the people who can still hold on to reason in the midst of huge grief are really strong people. Mat's line "If it was me who died and your son is sitting here now, what would you think" kept her thinking in the pain. In contrast, her husband Jaime, who has lost his beloved son, has a layer of self-blame: he kept encouraging his son to go to that party. Therefore, after his son passed away, he transferred his inability to let go of himself to Mat, believing that Mat was a murderer with a bad temperament, and continued to create opportunities to destroy the lives of Mat and his family in various ways. In the process, Jaime's behavior is no longer motivated by the pain of losing his son. His mental line is simple: as long as he can prove that Mat is who he thinks he is, then he can calmly declare Mat. Should be fully responsible for Danny's death (Mat was convicted of manslaughter instead of murder and sentenced to 4 years), he doesn't have to continue to feel guilty. And Sonia, after learning of her husband's actions, said "Danny will be ashamed of your actions". Her starting point is really in her son, and she looks at everything from her son's view of right and wrong, including her husband and Mat.
Olivia, this tragic woman, was born in a slum, her father disappeared and her mother was ODed as a child. When he grew up, he was fooled by so-called "relatives" and went to Spain. He slept on the street without relatives, and was dragged into a pool of blood and tears by a criminal group when he was about to be sent back to China. During the years there, the physical wounds can always be healed, but the spiritual wounds have been brutally opened up again and again by various ways beyond the limit. But even in that environment, she and several other "sisters" were able to love and protect others. They know that physical devastation is inevitable, so they try their best to give each other spiritual comfort. This part is arguably the brightest part of the show.
But Olivia is different from the other members of the sister group: if Anibal hadn't been too perverted, Emma would have happily continued to be her madam. Her betrayal of Anibal was stimulated by several reasons. One was Anibal's treatment of employees (If it can be called an employee) fisting and kicking is too frequent, the second is that Anibal expands his business to minors, which is the common bottom line of the sister group, and the third is the threat that newcomers want to replace their status; and Kimmy actually has In addition to being very protective, she is also very possessive, and Olivia chose to give up and escape. Under Kimmy's possessive transformation, it became a "betrayal", and the "punishment" she originally intended to impose on Olivia was more than Anibal's. And no less. Unlike Olivia, who never enjoys a minute of her profession, she has an almost devout, unselfish love for her two sisters.
To sum up, I personally think that in this drama, the innocent people are not Mat, but three women.
Mat's push on Danny outside the bar pushed himself into Olivia's life, and loaded Danny's father's revenge into Olivia's already complicated and troubled fate. Mat's heart has begun to blacken in prison, but Olivia, who is brave and full of love, Sonia, who insists on discerning right and wrong in her grief, and Lorena, who is highly professional and does not fear power, the three not only rely on their own efforts to heal their devastated wounds His life is still on the way (yes, I think it's just on the way), at least temporarily buffering the speed of Mat's blackening.
Finally, think about it from another angle, if Mat didn't push Danny, or even if he pushed Danny, it would be fine, and everyone went home safely that night, what would the story be like?
Sonia's family continues to be successful, her husband has no fuse for blackening, and her son is fine.
Lorena doesn't have to go through this complicated case, she can easily move up the ranks according to her original plan.
If Olivia hadn't been intruded into her life by Mat, Danny's father, Jamie, wouldn't have been attracted, and Jamie wouldn't have found Gallardo and Saez to expose her and Emma, and Emma might not have died.
Therefore, it should be obvious who is really innocent.
