The one who can be found.

Isn't there a saying, happiness is that when you find nowhere to go, you can go back.

The film has always had that feeling hanging over it. There is no vigorous plot, and even the most urgent and moving places are light. The background of the whole story is a simple color block: the blue sea, the white and yellow sand, and the sun with gold in the white. Everything is simple, beautiful, and there is nothing sad, and even the sharpest contradictions are enveloped in a layer of soft sunset light.

That's the beauty of Shelter. After reading a lot of those sad, ups and downs, young and frivolous stories, I almost don't believe in beautiful stories. As soon as I see children's fairy tales, I bluntly say that it is a lie. The prince and princess will not be together, and all sweet love will end in the trivial life. When the honey has been mixed into a glass of white water, it is the day of separation.

However, Zach and Shaun gave life another style.

Start directly from the details of life, from the people and things that you dare not face. Do not shy away from those who are anxious and troubled. Zach is not a person who represses himself. He has someone he loves, so he loves, and cooks cooked rice directly; he has a career he wants to do, and he works hard to achieve it. He is also a responsible man. He will take care of his nephew, accommodate his selfish sister and brother-in-law outside, explain things to Sean clearly, break up with his girlfriend he doesn't love instead of procrastinating, and give up his art dream for the sake of his family And look for a job. He's all done well. It's just that sometimes, a person can't bear too many changes.

Fortunately he met Shaun.

Shaun is a good lover. He is considerate. He will quietly help Zach apply, and then hand over the admission notice directly to Zach. He knew that it was Zach's dream, and he didn't want Zach to waste his youth for those unnecessary changes and rotten people. He will accompany him to paint the big graffiti on the street.

If Shaun's goodness is only this, I am afraid that he is not too different from 60 to 70% of the lovers in the world.

Most importantly, Shaun doesn't force Zach to make a decision. He is in no hurry.

Too few people can do this. For ordinary people, even if the lover does not urge him to make a decision, at least he has to make irresponsible remarks. It is not uncommon to directly pull the lover to abandon the family like Zach's brother-in-law did. But Shaun quietly helped Zach with the chores he could, and then waited for him to deal with it, giving him enough space and dignity. He stands behind Zach anytime, anywhere and tells him you can come back. I'm here.

Xu Zhimo once said that love, if you get it, I am lucky; if you lose it, I will die. Shaun's calm and solid figure, somehow reminds me of this quote.

Watching this movie was when I was the most disturbed. Anxiety and fury are hidden in every corner of life. Thank you Shelter for the protection of the soul.

Some people say the film is depressing. Personal opinion, in fact, the real life is also different. There are no big ups and downs, a touch of joy and sadness, accumulated into memories, there is a touch of warm happiness.

Probably the real so-called "happiness" is just one, and that person can be found back.

Shelter quotes

  • Shaun: [looking through Zach's art portfolio] Wow.

Zach: [trying to grab it away from him] Whoa! What're you doing?

Shaun: Easy, dude, it's OK. I want to look at it.

Zach: Nobody ever looks at that.

    Shaun: Wow. Is that Cody?

    Zach: Yeah.

    Shaun: Sad Cody.

    Zach: You could tell?

Shaun: Yeah, and how you darkened it around his head. This is incredible - and there's no toys in his room. Wow - awesome.

Zach: Yeah, he'd just gotten scolded. He was trying to understand why. So he came into my room. He hasn't left yet. It's the only place he could sleep.

  • Shaun: Where are you?

Zach: Gettin' warmer... colder... turn around. I'm so sorry.

    Shaun: You better be.

Zach: You sent in my application?

Shaun: Yeah... why're you here? What changed?

    Zach: I did.
