Zach is a person dragged down by life. His mother died, his father was incompetent, and his irresponsible sister always left his son Cody to his care. For the sake of his family, Zach gave up his scholarship to continue studying art. Until he met Shaun, he was not without hesitation at first, the sudden and affectionate kiss made him terrified but eager.
He began to deny, to escape, to rage. But in the end, love made Zach choose to follow his heart and run towards the person he loves.
After love, reality always has to come. Zach still failed to identify with his homosexual identity. Real life and family problems were all binding him. He didn't dare to do whatever he wanted, and he didn't dare to let him be himself.
Zach starts to run away again, if Shaun is separated from him, maybe Zach is bound by his family, his own fears, all his life. But Shaun didn't. Shaun secretly helped Zach apply for the California Institute of the Arts. He wanted Zach to recognize himself and understand his value. He could not live for others, and he had the qualifications and ability to fight and get for himself.
I think in the film, Shaun's younger brother, Zach's good friend Gabe and Zach's ex-girlfriend Tori are really assists, not alienated because Zach is gay (sometimes friends are more reliable than some relatives).
At the end of the film, Zach and Shaun live a wonderful life of two boys, one child and one dog!
Shaun is Zach's Mr.right. Shaun has always affirmed Zach, his artistic talent, and his value. He can understand his unwillingness and pain, and tell him what he wants, not to complain but to fight for it. Shaun will always support him, stand behind him, do anything for him. And Shaun's love gave Zach the courage to face himself, his sexuality, and his inner desire for art. This is the best love!
So I gave this film five stars because he told us that good love is what makes us happy, it has nothing to do with homosexuality or heterosexuality or anything else, love is understanding, tolerance, support, change... Finally to happiness! (Recommended "The Kingdom of God", hahaha, also let me see the love that makes people grow and be happy.)
