ridiculous world

At the end of the movie, Lynn said something that impressed me a lot. The meaning is probably like this, only the soldiers in Iraq understand what the war is all about. Everyone has their own understanding of war. But the world is often run by those who don't know it. This sentence expresses the way the world works in the simplest possible language.
Looking around our lives and the jobs we face every day, those on the front line truly understand how difficult it is to complete the tasks at hand. However, the people who often guide and evaluate your work are those who "have no ink in their chests". People can always easily guide the lives of others. It is easy for people to be self-righteous, thinking that what they see is the truth, and what they understand is the truth. Whether it be Norman in the movie, the audience watching the game, or the reporter, all the questions asked to Lynn and the others are all eager to get the answers they expect in their hearts. For Lynn, the loss of a life-and-death friend is more grief than anything else. As he said, it was the saddest day of his life, but it was celebrated by everyone. In combat with the enemy on the battlefield, there is only fear and the desire to survive, but the reporter wants to hear the answer he wants. The players and spectators of the football team are just curious about their unknown world, so they are curious about Lynn. These people never really wanted to understand the life of the military, the horrors of war.
There is one detail at the end of the movie that I think is wonderful. Lynn and the cheerleader meet in the waiting area, seemingly inseparable. But when Lynn said the truth and wanted to stay with her, the cheerleader captain immediately showed a look of disappointment, surprise and contempt. I think Lynn should also understand that the girl loves nothing more than his "hero halo". Sometimes, people pursue something in the name of "love", but what he loves is only the "glorious coat" given to it by himself or the outside world.
This is human nature, the world is so "absurd", perhaps the best way to live is to "be yourself" and not suffer from others' ignorance. So, Lynn finally chose to return to the army.
Ang Lee's films all reveal his thoughts on human nature and the world, which is also the charm of his films.

Seeing the middle, I almost rushed out of the door with grief and anger. Some people risk their lives to go to the battlefield for a subsidy of 6,000 dollars, and some people spend tens of thousands of dollars just to grab a front row seat in a ball game. Soldiers face life and death and bombs on the battlefield every day, and the people of the country you defend, they only care if you are gay or not.

The movie is a lie at 24 frames per second, and Uncle An uses 120 frames of truth to make people have nowhere to hide. All that you have risked your life for is just a selectable part of other people's understanding. At the end, Billy's understanding of the war includes Uncle An's confession to the movie. The escape from "normal" and the adherence to "extreme" are so clumsy and great, it can be called fate. Li An, who is compassionate and compassionate, has exhausted all his efforts to let you see everything in his heart.
