I think it is difficult for domestic audiences to like this movie, because racial discrimination is rare in our daily life, and it is difficult to build empathy. Many people don't even know about religious issues, and racial issues have always been a serious problem faced by countries all over the world.
The root causes of many problems such as wars, parades, and many of the problems that I usually see in the news are caused by the above two problems.
Seeing that the director of this film is a black man, I can understand very well his intention to make this film. Every black man is like a thorn in his heart when faced with discrimination, which cannot be removed or healed.
The film's narrative is very simple. It is about a gang riot caused by an accidental injury in the process of police enforcement in a neighborhood with many racial mixture problems. The picture restoration is very real. I think the director should have really experienced the real scene to restore the real riot scene in such a fine lens.
The film didn't impress me, but respect for different races will always be in my heart. Some time ago, the time of Freud, a black man kneeling in the United States, has caused shocks to people all over the world. As ordinary people on earth, we should lead by example, respecting different races, respecting different ethnic groups, respecting different voices, and respecting different cultures.
Off-topic: Many viewers are addicted to blockbusters, and have fixed their aesthetics on sci-fi, war, love, disaster and other label films. These films do give people a shocking and exciting experience, but on the other hand, they limit people's thinking and attention to different social issues. Like this movie about race.
So I emphasize that we might as well watch it patiently, whether it is a good movie or a bad movie, to expand our cognition and our appreciation, thank you.
I give this movie 2 stars.
