"Les Miserables"
"Les Miserables" is Raj Lee's directorial debut. The director has been shooting genre short films. This debut has his previous style and is quite high.
Although the movie has the shell of Hugo, I think the core is more from my own originality, a movie about "evil", let's talk about it briefly below.
("City of God")
"Les Miserables" is unimaginable to be a directorial debut. The whole film is very well completed, with a fast pace, a full core, and a story that is deeply rooted in the hearts of the people.
Although there are no bad crops and no bad people in the world, there are only bad peasants. Although I think this sentence is a flaw in the whole film, because I think that although there is no inherent evil, some people are "evil" and "evil" without the Virgin Mary. , There is no later change, because this is the root of human beings, although I say this is very extreme, but I believe that some people will understand my argument, but since this is a director's film, I will use the director's thinking to go chat.
The source of "evil" is anger to the point of irrationality, and three police roles are given in the movie, Stephen, Chris, and Vada.
Stephen represents justice and reason. His character is also the most positive character in the whole film. He will treat everything ideally. Even if someone secretly filmed the process of their hurting, he would choose to comfort the injured first. Going to track down the drone, he will be sad because of his "evil", and he can stand up bravely because of justice, but this role is often the least in reality.
Chris represents anger and ego. In this city with serious class contradictions, he is standing in the middle. His philosophy is "We are always right" and "I am God". Chris is at the bottom because of his small power. When he is arrogant and domineering in front of him, he will always start with anger and use his own strength to occupy others' weaknesses. However, when he is too angry, he will only know his incompetence. After committing the crime, he realizes that he is not "God". The most ironic thing is that he can't even distinguish "respect and fear" when he is angry, which is also doomed to his future destiny. Chris is a representative of "barking dog" in reality.
Wada's representative is "ordinary" in my case. He is also the most common type of person in reality. He understands the law of survival. He knows what kind of situation he is in or knows how to do it. After the incident, he He is the most calm, although the shooting was motivated by his impulse, but after the impulse, he calmly tried to find a way to settle the matter. He is not as rational as Stephen but not as angry as Chris. He is a more skilled player. The players of the law of the jungle are also the most realistic characters.
("Pistol and Whip")
The film is shot with handheld photography, which increases the realism of the film and makes our audience feel that the same story in the film is happening in reality.
The source of evil and anger in the movie, the end of anger is a fire, at first everyone used anger to solve their own problems with the idea of "I am the law" and I am God, but in the end they will find that "the barking dog is not. bites." Anger only turns into fire, and anger divides classes so that people with class laws ignore it.
Colored races are equal to lions, they could have their own way of hunting and freedom, but standing in front of a class like a cage they can only succumb. When someone stole the "lion" symbolizing power, breaking the class, riots were also triggered in the face of anger.
The police are like circus trainers. They have guns and whips. They think they are gods. In fact, when he does not have guns and whips, they will also be reduced to lambs to be slaughtered. When the law enforcer is built on the lawbreaker, it is actually a Rashomon.
