The raging waves of the times devour you and me

Because I have only watched the film once, I cannot achieve intensive reading effects such as analyzing the shots. I can only strongly feel the emotions that the director wants to express with the help of the shots. Emotions are nonlinear and multi-layered, and I can only analyze one or two of them. .
The emotion of the whole film is staring at Birdy's extreme love for birds, from the beginning of the film and his future best friend Al acquainted with a birdcage, to encouraging his brother to put on bird feathers and climb the roof to experience birds. I feel that I am exercising my arms and longing to spread my wings in the sky one day. I am heartbroken when I see innocent birds in the woods being attacked by artillery fire. The hollow thought to portray Birdy's almost perverted feelings for birds, or for wings, or for freedom. Under the strong emotional impact, the vivid shots remain deeply in the audience's impression.
Another emotional clue is the friendship of the second-hand car that the two protagonists bought together as the main carrier. The friendship between Al and Birdy began with the old-fashioned acquaintance. The stark contrast between the characters and worldviews formed by their two independent characters is an indispensable part of the film in order to express the character of Birdman. During the Birdy's imprisonment in the mental hospital, no matter how difficult it was, no matter how useless, his friend Al always worked tirelessly to persuade Birdy. He hoped and believed that he could influence the Birdy to return to the past, even though the conflicts between them were also one after another. .
The emotion expressed in this film is, on the surface, an accusation of the evil of war, but implicitly the devastation of the paranoid young people from the body to the heart by the system of imprisoning freedom. Birdman may be a victim of the times, Al, the girls who played together when they were young, the comrades who were connected by fate during the military, the paramedics in the mental hospital, the nurses who were empty and hungry, and so on in the same era. People who are struggling are not the same.
