language and perspective

The two most important things in this film I think should be "language" and "angle"

Language : The gap caused by the difference in the language of the male and female protagonists leads to arrogant speculation (perhaps it is the deceptiveness of the language). The difference in language is not an obstacle to the film, but an indispensable element in the film's narrative. It is through the conversion of language, James completed a dislocation and transposition, and after identifying himself as Binoche's husband, he spoke Italian (I can't tell whether it was Italian or French), so in the following plot, James's own identity and The identities of Binoche's husband are intertwined, and he may also regard Binoche as his wife. Here I prefer to think of something surreal, he instantly becomes Binoche's husband, and he learns her language.

It is precisely because of the language change that the message conveyed to the audience is clearer, and it is easier for us to accept that they are just like husband and wife. The entire marriage process from couple to couple was staged on a date in the moonrise and sunset of the day (coming out of the church to support each other) old couple).

Perspective : The point of view of the world. Affirmation and doubt about the angle. The two mentioned this topic in the car at the beginning, and the superficial problem that this topic surfaced to them was that the husband and wife had different opinions and they held their own words and emotional contradictions. The conversation between the couple at the end of the film is a reconciliation and tolerance of disputes caused by different perspectives.

I would like to put the prop "mirror" in the module of angle, and the mirror itself also has the attribute of "copy": ① When the newlyweds asked James to take a photo, James's medium shot, the mirror hanging on the wall reflected James With the bride opposite, and behind the door frame behind James is another newlywed couple, all three spaces are placed in the window/frame for simultaneous activity and narrative. ②When the two were talking about the sculpture of the fountain, the sculpture was reflected in the mirror between them.

The film also talks about the falsity of angles, or the falsity of "seeing," or the falsity of movies. At the fountain, an elderly couple's husband's back shot covers his wife's body, making people mistakenly think that he is reprimanding his wife, and after the two start walking, we realize that he was hit by him before facing each other. The body obscured the communication tool to speak. This is a bit of "teasing" the audience and mocking the director himself, but also questioning and mocking the angle. In fact, this "teasing" is different from the classmates who are hiding and looking for in "Where", Abbas finally let the mirror language participate in the interpretation of the film, instead of just hanging on the audience's emotions. He raised the problem this time, but he did not want to rely on the preaching of the "wise man" to solve it.

The long shot moves around the perimeter of the four as the Fountain Old Couple talks to Binoche and James, a delusional circular movement that sees things from all angles.

Like the short film in "New York I Love You"! This kind of book is really not something that ordinary actors can hold up. Very easily destroyed. Good thing it didn't! Juliet Binoche is just good-looking, and it's not too much of an actress, but it seems that there are better actresses this year.

TORO VAN DARKO's short comment expressed what I thought, but I was still a little bored.
