When the 57-year-old García Márquez wrote this "Love in the Time of Cholera" with a twilight and sad attitude, it determined the excellence of this long love story. The whole story is like an encyclopedia about love. Marquez has almost exhausted all the possibilities of love themes: secret love, first love, broken love, unrequited love, waiting, martyrdom, widowhood, betrayal, extramarital love, conjugal love, dew marriage, dusk Twilight love, old and young love... All the themes are concentrated in one story, making this story about love huge but strange and rich. After watching the film of the same name adapted from the novel, I was convinced by Marquez's amazing observation, although the film could not fully incorporate all the details.
In the story, a young telegraph operator, Ariza, falls in love with Fermina, the daughter of a businessman, during a time of cholera, but they are separated by reality. When they met again, Fermina looked at Ariza and said only one sentence: "Our relationship is just an illusion." Then he turned and disappeared into the crowd. Afterwards, Fermina followed his father's wishes and married Urbino, a doctor who adored him, while Ariza began to wait for love all his life with heart-rending pain. After waiting 51 years, 4 months and 8 days, after the funeral of Dr. Urbino, Ariza came to Fermina's house again and proposed to her again. Finally, after 53 years, 7 months and 11 days, the old couple finally broke the secular barriers and came together. The ending is very romantic, too romantic. Ariza took Fermina on a trip on the rivers of South America. He ordered the captain to put up a yellow flag on the boat to indicate that there were cholera patients on board, so that they could stay on the river without docking. He and Fermina , and finally be together forever.
This story gives me reason to believe that it is full of realism. The whole story is like the epitome of Lin Huiyin, Liang Sicheng, Xu Zhimo and Jin Yuelin. She loved Ariza, but was married to Dr. Urbino. Many girls are very sympathetic to such a plot. In my opinion, Dr. Urbino is like Liang Sicheng. He is a real man. Even one cheating was beyond Fermina's expectations and completely confessed to her. Such a man , it is not necessarily a tragedy to marry him. Ariza is a Xu Zhimo-esque character, too idealistic, always a poetic plot. There is a business letter written by Ariza in the film. The wording is very poetic. After reading it, his uncle shouted that it was a business letter and not a love letter. Under the blow of a broken love, he once vowed to leave his virginity to the most beloved Fermina, and he began to associate with various women, but he still loved Fermina, and 622 women Have a relationship, but never married in more than 50 years, this is also the guardian of love! In terms of loyalty in love, he is like Jin Yuelin who never married for Lin Huiyin.
If I were Fermina, I think I would still choose Dr. Urbino. Just like Lin Huiyin chose Liang Sicheng instead of Xu Zhimo. Because a man like Liang Sicheng has a generous and warm heart and is worth relying on for a lifetime. Fermina's feelings for Ariza, or Lin Huiyin's feelings for Xu Zhimo, are just as we all may have people who we once loved but could not be with for the rest of our lives. Even after decades of ups and downs, we are still in our hearts. A corner is deeply buried. However, just like Liang Sicheng's evaluation of the relationship between Lin Huiyin and Xu Zhimo - "Xu Zhimo's spiritual pursuit, Lin Huiyin fully understands; conversely, Lin Huiyin's spiritual pursuit, Xu Zhimo may not understand." Therefore, Fermina and Lin Huiyin both gave up That relationship is destined to happen. Dr. Urbino is similar to Liang Sicheng, not turning marriage into a siege, but a guardian.
Lin Huiyin did not answer Liang Sicheng's question by herself why he could make Lin Huiyin cast his life in the end, and she used her life to tell him. Dr. Urbino does not have the talent of Ariza's poet, but he spends his life guarding the woman he loves and protecting her from any harm. When his mother humiliated Fermina, he held his hand with love in his eyes; he confessed to her his cheating without concealing it at all. She took it home. He himself said to everyone after having children that the meaning of marriage is just like that. He gave Fermina a stable home and the life she wanted. Even though Fermina later recalled her married life and said "suffering more than joy", she also told Ariza with certainty that Ur Dr. Bino is her beloved husband, a good man and a good husband.
At the end of the movie, Fermina and Ariza were lying together, and she said, "It turns out that loving you is my life's destiny." I think the so-called love's destiny is not as good as the Ur who has been with her for more than half a century Doctor Bino, the man she was willing to give up Ariza and spend her life with...
