It tells a story that happened in Afghanistan during the Taliban rule. The little girl Parwana lives in a family of five. Her father lost a leg in the war. She relies on reading and writing letters for others, while selling valuable items from sellers. To make a living, the frail mother and the sister in the boudoir are unable to go out because of their female status, and the younger brother who was born not long ago has no ability to live. With the arrest of the father, the vulnerable family has been devastated again. In Afghanistan at the time, women could not have jobs, buy or sell, or expose their bodies, and women were not allowed to go out alone unless they were accompanied by a man. Under this unreasonable and even illogical rule, the arrest of the father means the loss of the only labor force for the family.
