As an earlier post-80s, most of the foreign comics I came into contact with as a child were mainly Japanese, such as "Saint of the Goddess" and "Dragon Ball" (thanks to Hainan Fine Arts Photography Publishing House, for this when I went to Haikou in 2006, I specially asked I went to look for worship, only to find out that the comics that were enlightened in the same year were all pirated versions), American animation only knows about some characters that appear in movies, such as Superman.
In my impression, it was also a little book that my father bought at the Xinhua Bookstore when I was still in school. It is the 64-kilogram style of the old comic strip, with a pen drawing on each page and simple text below. That's when I saw superman for the first time.
It's very strange, why such a hero should fly around in his pants and write a big s on his chest. This is what a hero should look like, but Clark's usual dress makes people feel more comfortable.
Gradually, at the beginning of the new century, American culture began to enter China silently, from business, movies, TV, books, comics, clothing, food, travel...all marked with the Stars and Stripes. And DC and Marvel have also fed a new generation of flowers. The familiar Donald Duck Mickey Mouse has long been replaced by these weirdly dressed Superman, Captain America, Hulk, Deadpool, Spider-Man...etc.
Maybe different from today's young people, I always feel that this type of superhero is very two-sided. I don't know if the author is simple or subtle. These heroes are like irony. The most concentrated are those characters in "watchman", this dark comic reveals all kinds of irony from the plot to the characters, just like the joker that revolves from beginning to end. Just a joke.
Wonder Woman is a movie like that. Today, going from sissy to girly is no longer a joke, it has become the norm, or even a more sought-after trend. This kind of change is really hard for me, a post-80s generation at the turning point of the times, to accept. The change in thinking is no less than the amazing take-off of China's economy.
Going back to the movie, Elizabeth is the key to the whole movie, it's between Marston and Olive, and it's what keeps this weird triangle. The victory of the feminist movement and the equality of men and women that Elizabeth showed on the surface is essentially to remove all differences and re-interpret social relations with libido. Therefore, in this triangular relationship, Marston > Elizabeth > Olive.
Even at the end of the film, the director let the most feminine Olive castrate herself and put on a "penis". Marston, who is a male, and Elizabeth, who is a neutral, all gave his knees for him. What overcomes all this, and all the inversions, is not feminism, but "the phallus", which in a new way equips women with this crown. In this sense, Freud was right. But what he is right is not that he is right about the essence of human beings, but that he has influenced these postmodern times.
In fact, there is no wonder woman, she clearly "wants" a woman
