look into the distance

This part of "Human Planet" 3 on TV is all about cities near the North Pole.
From the spring equinox to the summer solstice, there is a polar day in the Arctic region. The sea ice is melting, and the Inuit people of Greenland use binoculars to see if there are narwhals in the bay while watching out for the ice floes under their feet. This is the only source of their precious vitamin C intake. The law stipulates that they can't use modern equipment to hunt whales. They can only use buoys and sealskin buoys that have been used for thousands of years. They gently dragged the pontoon into the water to prevent the sound of launching from scaring the narwhal away. A whale swam by at fifteen meters, and they waited. When they finally got close, they stabbed them with harpoons. Several harpoons hit, and the blood appeared on the white belly that was fading from time to time... They dragged the whale to the ice surface, separated the skin of the most vitamin-rich fish with the knife, and tasted it.

...Seabirds migrate, and the overwhelming flocks pass by at a low altitude. Indigenous residents hid on the rocky beach and waved their nets to catch seabirds one by one. If you are lucky, you can catch 500 a day. They are stockpiling grain for winter and making delicious food. The production method is to stuff the caught unprocessed birds into bags made of seal skin, at least 500 birds, sew the bag, and seal it with seal fat to prevent flies. Use a large stone to press out the air in the bag and press it tightly to prevent air from entering. The frozen soil is like a refrigerator, and you can enjoy this dish every three months. When taken out, the seabird's white feathers have turned brown, and the peeled flesh is blood red. It smells like some kind of cheese and is enjoyed outdoors by children and adults.

After summer, the camera moves to a reindeer spot in Norway. The girl, a graduate of the Norwegian Reindeer Academy, was assigned to the head of the herd when she was born. Lichens are food for reindeer. In winter, they are about to migrate to a place where lichens grow 60 kilometers away. On the way, they have to pass through a strait of more than two kilometers. People used medicine for reindeer before the migration. Migration takes a month. When crossing the strait, the scene is very spectacular. The girl sat in the motorboat and followed the herd of reindeer in the water. It turns out that reindeer can swim, I just know. The camera also captured the curved hoofs kicking in the water. My heart is full of novel and happy feelings, which is incomparable to any TV drama no matter how wonderful the plot is. She stared at the deer closely, and once a deer that was out of strength had the tendency to turn around and swim, she would grab the deer's head and let it go the right way. After an hour or two of trek, the herd of deer reached the shore.

Safe halloween, happy halloween~ Churchill Town, Canada, on Halloween, here into the polar night. Kids go trick or treat, people light jack-o-lanterns in taverns. The Polar Bear Patrol patrols at night to keep an eye out for ghostly bears. In winter, polar bears who cannot find food will pass through the town and attack humans. There used to be about 70 bears arriving every winter, but in recent years, less than half. On the way, the children happily greeted the officers in the police car, who had no idea they had caught a half-ton bear last night. The police officer sedated the captured bear and transported it by helicopter to a place 60 kilometers away from the town. When the net was removed, the polar bear was still docile when he woke up. The narrator says that an adult male polar bear can kill a person with one paw. But I looked at the police officer with a smile on his face, without a trace of fear.

On January 13th, people ushered in the first ray of light of the new year, and people in arctic cities walked into the community from their homes.

Every time I look at this distant icy city and world on TV, even though Harsh, but in the environment of survival of the fittest, there is a law and poetry of habitation. Or maybe in such a world, stockpiling food and waiting for the cold winter to pass, is the peace that the prosperous and mediocre southern world I live in is far from imaginable.
This is a show that I can't take my eyes off of while eating "breakfast" for a few days. In the distant time, it seems that there is no graduation and unemployment, only the survival of the fittest. And turn off the TV, my world is still the same trivial.
And when I look at my transcripts, I don't have the slightest passion.
