Don't be fooled by the title of the movie. The plot of this film has nothing to do with Keanu Reeves' Speed series, and don't think that he has the same fighting ability as Liam Neeson of the Hurricane Rescue series. Nicolas Cage in this film is just a retired French chef who lives in the mountains.
One thing to say, I was actually tricked in by the title of the film today, and I found something wrong when I saw about half of it. Think about not giving up the drama, because this film is really surprisingly boring, the kind of boring that you don't know what he's talking about from beginning to end.
If I hadn't seen the cast, I would never have guessed that the protagonist was Nicolas Cage.
Who is this old man? I'm still surprised when I'm still in the National Treasure.
With her long hair knotted in oil, her whole body is dirty and sloppy, Cage is walking a little pig as if he is looking for something in the forest.
Then the scene changed, and a man driving a luxury car came over. He skillfully took Cage's black truffles and gave Cage a box of living supplies.
In the evening, the little pig was accidentally snatched away by someone who broke into the house, and Cage was injured in the head, unable to fight back, and passed out on the ground.
When he woke up the next morning and found that the pig was missing, Cage had to contact a familiar luxury car buyer for help, and started the road to find the pig.
It is such a story, and the plot to be developed next, I think, is more like a fable written in a book. Because it's so unreal.
Maybe this is one of the reasons why we can't integrate into this world. If the director can't explain the character's background story, he really omits it. You don't even know who the character in it is, who is who, and you can only continue to walk down with the protagonist.
But the more you look at the back, the more you can see the clues through the stories that have been excavated little by little in the previous article. There's just no template for the overall story to speak of, which means that what you read may not be the same as what others see.
As in "A thousand readers make a thousand Hamlets".
In my opinion, "Pig" may be a bit of a pretence.
In an independent world, the all-powerful French chef met a couple of customers who came to eat at a dinner party one day. The couple was on the verge of breaking up. Because of this meal, their relationship seemed to come back. But then because of some things (don't know, didn't say in the play) the chef's lover passed away? Then retreat to the forest. In the past, the chef and the pig depended on each other for life, but the pig was kidnapped by the rich. This rich man was the male customer that day.
It is a pity that there will be no cool drama of "you kill my dog, I will kill your whole family" in "Quick Pursuit". I think this film is more like "Her" played by Joaquin Phoenix. This kind of detached, seemingly indistinct narrative method corresponds to the "her" repeatedly mentioned in "Pig".
In the end, maybe the old man Cage lived with the pig in the forest because of the loss of his wife. What he was looking for was the feeling of getting along day and night.
Maybe old man Cage might have done something to her that he couldn't even face his own forgiveness, so he hid in the forest, and the road to find a pig became his self-redemption.
The film adopts a segmented narrative method, which is somewhat similar to Liam Neeson's "Ice Road Rescue", as well as the domestic "Eleventh Chapter", and the recent "Human Fury" is also a bit similar. But in "Pig", food is used to segment, and radio recordings are used as rests, so that it will not be abrupt. Interesting.
In terms of plot, there is no delicate explanation like baby feeding, which shows that the director is very individual when dealing with this film. He predicted everyone's predictions.
You thought we were looking for Nicolas Cage for an action movie, but it's actually a fable.
You thought there would be a big reversal in the end, but it didn't. The pig died, and Cage didn't hurt anyone. Instead, he went back to the lodge alone and opened the tape that he didn't dare to listen to at first.
It seems that an old friend comes and wants to go back after waking up.
So this journey to find pigs is probably a success.
