When we talk about education, what are we talking about?

It is encouraging that Indian filmmakers are making strides to achieve educational equality. In India, underprivileged people do not have opportunities to enroll in prestigious schools. Students from poor families have to face fierce competition in going to private schools which have sufficient fund, well- known teachers, advanced teaching equipment, and strict disciplines, due to the limited admission qualification. Moreover, in order to go to the private schools, the rich masquerade as the poor who live in the slum to cheat the surprise inspection of the committee.

Even though this movie has a happy ending, namely, the girl from a rich family abandoned her admission qualification and studied with her poor friend in the under-resourced public school, this perfect ending did not gain my recognition. It is superficial and ridiculous. Her father had a ten-minute speech in the main hall, but this speech could not arouse my empathy. If this movie adapted from a realistic theme and wanted to uncover some severe social problems, it should not be idealist as well as overwhelmingly sentimental in that this narrative method faded the audience's requirements of rational criticism and social transformation. Fixing this problem, in my opinion, means creative and thoughtful narrative methods.

Climbing up the ladder is not just the American dream, but also it reflects the anxiety of the whole society. Namely, how the rich accumulate their wealth by strengthening their social position? How the poor get rid of poverty, indignation, and ignorance? , the friendship between the poor and the rich gives me a bad impression that poverty is not a sin. The rich purify themselves through the self-sacrifice of the poor. This stereotyped trick goes on and on. However, I admire the courage and responsibility of the filmmakers who reveal this unsettled problem and expose it in the screen.
