"Famous Name" is derived from the prototype of the story of "Thorn Horse", one of the four strange cases in the late Qing Dynasty. They all say that this is a film about men's brotherhood, but I also clearly saw love (Pisces, that's all. ): Zhao Erhu's childhood love for Liansheng, Jiang Wuyang's hazy love for Liansheng, Pang Qingyun and Liansheng's love for each other. The story itself is a tragedy, in the context of those times. Zhao Jiang and the two became bandits to survive, but joining the army was a helpless move. Pang Canjun has ambitions, but he is only a pawn in the hands of others. If Liansheng was not rescued by Erhu and became a concubine of a wealthy family, he would also be a victim of feudal society.
There are three brothers, and the eldest brother Pang Qingyun is brave and resourceful. He doesn't believe in voting for names, but he believes in people's hearts. This is also his Achilles heel. He knows that people use people and people use them at the same time, and he thinks that he can change his own destiny and betrayal in the end is just a victim of official factionalism. He loves Liansheng, but he loves his ambition more. He will not kill Zhao Erhu for Liansheng. Jiang Wuyang will kill Liansheng because he does not understand him. He is a careerist sacrificed by the times.
The second brother, Zhao Erhu, should be the most affectionate person among the three, but his short-sightedness only has the courage of a man. He neither understands nor sees Pang Qingyun's ambition. He did the same to Liansheng, wishing to be nice to her, but he didn't know that his so-called goodness was not what she wanted, and he didn't even know that Liansheng ran away again and again. To a certain extent, he should be happy. He didn't know that the one who killed him was Pang Qingyun, who he regarded as his brother, and he didn't know that Lian Sheng didn't love him. He was an upright and straightforward man. Even if he did not get along with Pang Qingyun, he would immediately go to rescue him when he was in trouble. Unfortunately, in my opinion, his death was because he valued friendship too much.
The third brother, Jiang Wuyang, is actually a naive child. The pair of enemy boots he picked up when he grabbed the rations made him very happy. He and his second brother lived and died together in troubled times, so he would kill the sister-in-law he had a crush on in order to save the second brother. His naivety made him a slave to the title, and went to kill Pang Qingyun after Zhao Erhu was killed. In the whole play, from the beginning to the end, I didn't see his side of himself, he was pure and selfless, he was just a child.
The second sister-in-law, Liansheng, is a tragic figure. She was only grateful to Zhao Erhu, not because he let her out of the fate of his concubine, but because she knew that he was kind to her. She loves Pang Qingyun, but she doesn't dare to pursue her own happiness, so after they came back from the battle, she rushed to Pang Qingyun's house outside the village but didn't go in and turned away. I think in this drama, Liansheng himself is just a character who stands out as a foil for brotherhood.
It should be said that it is a good movie, which allows me to see brotherhood, love, humanity, morality, and interests. It reminds me of a book I recently read, "The Circle and the Trap", which probably tells the same thing, just with a different background. This play teaches us to see the truth of things from the perspective of materialism, and recognize the essence of human nature: people who do not do things for themselves will be destroyed by heaven and earth. I have to say, I admire Chen Kexin very much.
