Most of the actors in this show have a blast. Melrose's parents can be described as a pair of models who are not qualified to be parents. Men are tyrannical, psychologically controlled, and perverted. Women are always evading responsibility, betraying their children's trust and asking for help, and playing the role of the Virgin in the outside world but ignoring the closest people. Has Melrose escaped the influence of his family of origin? I don't think so. The last call he made was not to call Mary, but to Helena, the waitress who asked for his number.
