"If you don't go crazy, you can't live" is what Duan Xiaolou used to describe Cheng Dieyi twice. If you taste it carefully, Cheng Dieyi's obsession with acting should be something I should learn. In fact, in the movie, Cheng Dieyi always just wanted to play a good show with Duan Xiaolou, and acted in a play for a lifetime. But his dedication to the play has never changed. He once asked Duan Xiaolou why Yu Ji died. I didn't think of the answer at the time, but now that I think about it, maybe it's because I couldn't fulfill my ideals and career, and maybe that's also the reason why he finally chose to die like Yu Ji.

It's the best Chinese movie ever. Every role played brilliantly, but Leslie Cheung was completely involved in the play. It is a pity that Yu Ji, Cheng Dieyi, and his elder brother have surprisingly similar personalities and fates in and out of the play. The script is so well written, I want to praise it~ The emotional entanglements and life experiences of the characters in the play combine with China's turbulent history from the Beiyang government to the end of the Cultural Revolution, which is full of turmoil and blood and tears, and deduces a touching legend.
