In this worrying situation, he saw a strawberry growing on the mountainside, and in that terrifying situation, full of danger and uncertainty, he reached out to pick the strawberry and ate it.
"The Taste of Cherry" is a standard movie with no standard interpretation, and any interpretation of it is correct. But just looking at other people's interpretations is the only thing that doesn't make any sense.
Simply put, "The Taste of Cherry" full version = "The Taste of Cherry" + your understanding.
