summer in coney island

Summer in Coney Island, crowded beach. A pseudo-literary youth who is keen on romantic plots, wanders between a middle-aged woman with uncertain emotions and a divorced woman with a strange fate, and the relationship between these two women is complicated - stepmother and daughter. The alcoholic old man and the arson-loving arsonist form the bond between them. In the last shot, there are still only two people who are dependent on each other. There is no love, just the straw that appears when they just need support. The midsummer on the Ferris wheel is just a delusion of flying in the sky. Love is, and so is family.

Again, mocking your movie dreams :) The son sets fire to things, and the mother sets fire to heart. The picture of arson addiction is also burning in the lights from beginning to end, burning everyone's pupils through, dreaming and roaring. Why do older Hollywood actresses go to the "crazy woman" extreme, especially can't stand this deliberate state. I want to say, don't play, don't die, don't set yourself on fire.

Staged shots and performances. The story is old-fashioned, completely retro from content to style. Winslet is perfect and Justin is a vase. Coney Island Edition Madame Bovary, Anna Karenina. The same theme is repeated in different forms, be it a cliché or a rethink.

Wonder Wheel quotes

  • Mickey: Nothing you could tell me could put the slightest shadow on this evening.

    Ginny: I'm not 35. I'm 38. I'm 39.

Mickey: Well, that's a very hot age for a woman. I'm a very lucky guy.

  • Mickey: Jesus, what a sheltered life I've led. I have book knowledge but you've really tasted life.

Carolina: You've been round the world.

Mickey: Yeah, but you've been around the block. You think you'll always be looking over your shoulder?

Carolina: Everybody dies, you can't walk around thinking about it.

Mickey: You're talking to a lifeguard.
