This film tells us a very touching love story under the seemingly heavy kidnapping plot. After removing the dialogues that were later understood, I regarded it as a simple, persistent and moving romantic comedy.
Richie was a kid from a mental hospital, not a lunatic, just an orphan. As soon as he was discharged from the hospital, he went straight to the goddess in his mind, an erotic actress named Maria. The way he pursues is also very simple, directly kidnapping things. In the first few days, Maria was tied to death, afraid that Maria would escape or call for help. But even so, when Maria was sleeping, he quietly drew her sleeping shadow by the bed. Later, in order to buy drugs for Maria, (it seems that there are drugs in Almodovar's films?), Richie robs a drug dealer. As the two of them got along day and night, Maria slowly fell in love with this simple and paranoid handsome guy. The more the rope is tied, the looser the relationship becomes. The final breakthrough point was when Richie was beaten by a drug dealer for the second time when he went to buy drugs, when Maria applied the medicine to him. Then Maria's sister rescued Maria, but Maria was a little bit reluctant to part with Richie. Richie returns to his hometown, a barren but beautiful countryside. Maria and her sister came here and found Rich. The three happily embarked on their return journey.
This film is full of Amo's rare warmth. From the beginning to the end, it is basically a warm tone and warm language. It tells a simple and persistent love story under the coat of kidnapping.
