The original novel is the first e-book I bought after I bought the kindle, so I looked forward to it after I found out that there was a movie. It turns out that the greater the expectation, the greater the disappointment. A score of 5.1 is a comfort to the beautiful scenery of Northern Europe. The plot is broken, and the most exciting parts of the novel are either passed through or roughly simplified. How to describe it, it's like breaking a delicate and flawless egg shell, and then splicing it into a quail egg, ugly and crappy.
It is no wonder that Gao Xiaosong said that short stories are the most suitable for adaptation into movies, while novelette adaptations rarely succeed in movies. Water injection is much easier than carving.
