Regarding this drama, I think it kills all war-themed works in seconds. For a very subjective reason, it made me jump out of the vicious circle above. I think it is a drama that subverts our view of war and even our values. work. (Delete a large paragraph of text that may lead to contradictions) The real worthy of being a soldier is nothing more than making a deal with his supreme quality in exchange for a battered soul or a battered body.
Most of the success of this play lies not in the setting of the characters or the structure of the story, but in the ingenious placement of countless details in the plot, which are hidden but not obscure, and want to be concealed, but once discovered, the explosive power is infinite. It allows us to see all aspects of the war brought to different people. In my wishful thinking, the film deliberately understated the historical background in order to highlight the war itself. In order to avoid spoilers, I only give an example that impressed me. At the juncture, Friedhelm led a team of soldiers to be besieged by the Soviets. He suggested surrender, at least the 15- or 6-year-old Nazi admirers in the team to surrender, but the other party was loyal to the Führer and insisted on fighting to the death. How did Friedhelm do it? There is no war education so shocking and profound. How much did he hate war so much that he taught the belligerent with his life? Or do you want to use your life to avenge the war that destroyed all the innocent and kind people? Or did he just see the figure of his former brother, and did not want the same cruel fate to destroy the life and will of another family? I don't know. All I know is that in this short play, in the destruction of body and soul, everyone is both a bitch and an angel, both to die and to live.
