As the main POV perspective of the novel "Game of Thrones", the Stark family must have already understood the reason why God Martin set up such a POV in S1. I think this is also the charm of the "Game of Thrones" drama. Through a glorious and bloody family, he substitutes the audience into Game of Thrones, and then uses the tragic script of Zhao's orphans through pov. The point of view creates a phantom pain in the hearts of the audience.
I mentioned the dramatic resonance of death in my last review. As Ned stark's POV perspective of S1, the shock of his death to the audience is direct. In this season, the shock of death is there, but its weight is far less than the death of Ned in S1, which is largely because S3 has been portraying other characters, Rob stark and His wife, just like a couple in a cheap horror movie, apart from love and affection, death seems to destroy only these things. The lack of character portrayal makes us not only regret the tragedy of this pure love, but also the sudden death. It felt horrific. Even Caitlyn Tully, who was heavily portrayed in S1, died because of the lack of excavation of the characters later, and her death just made us sigh.
The lack of portrayal of Rob Stark and Catelyn Tully is partly due to the characters' personalities that limit their depth, and on S3, or in other words, in the entire Game of Thrones, the most successfully portrayed character is Little imp. He is like an outsider who is not accustomed to the environment, dissociating from this bloody game, but he is unable to get out of the whole body. His complexity makes the absolute villain also multi-faceted. Just like Fredo in "The Godfather", his appearance also gave the cold-blooded Sicilian Mafia its human side. If Fredo has always been the image of the disadvantaged in the Godfather, then Tyrion has also sat in the same position this season. I will review it in a later article.
Cynical, snarky, but actually kind-hearted, righteous Tyrion and Jaime Lannister, who lost his right hand and regained his chivalry, are at odds with the perversion of the Flayer of the North and Frey's betrayal. By comparing, you can find that all of this has already laid the groundwork for that fateful tragedy.
