The story is easy to understand.
I want to cut in from three angles. The first two are the protagonist's rules of action. In order to pursue the affirmation and love of self-worth, the third angle is the clear thinking about whether it is necessary for the individual to pursue oneself.
1. About love
Jim and Judy's knowledge and discussion of love made me feel that love is more like licking and understanding each other. Before watching this movie, I always thought that love in a broad sense is something similar to vows and responsibilities, and now I feel more like common ground + accident + sparks after the burst.
2. About personal value and rebellion
What can be paranoidly pursued, personal desire is nothing in the universe, but it is the driving force that drives individual actions.
Here, I would like to interpret the "no cause" from two aspects. One is the "no cause" which is incomprehensible by the outside world; the other is the "no cause" that is not even meaningful to pursue the cause as a rebellious individual itself.
Regarding the first interpretation, the unreasonable rebellion seen by others is the perseverance and perplexity of youth. In fact, it is possible to see the so-called rebellion, the desire behind the so-called actions that are not understood by others. And the second interpretation of no cause I want to put it into Part 3 alone.
The reason why rebellion occurs, I want to understand it is the resistance between the individual and the values and interests around him that are different from his own. This is most reflected in Jim. For example, Jim hates being called a coward, hates his father's cowardice, and insists on surrendering himself to the police station after an accident. These are all the heroes who insist on self-recognition, even if they are afraid of hesitation, they must resist. , And this kind of resistance cannot be understood by people who laugh at you or your family. Perhaps it is this resistance to all the skeptical voices around him that makes the male protagonist full of charm.
3. No cause is the pursuit of chaos
What Jim pursues for identification and the actions he takes to change in vain is beyond my reach, so every time he sees the film makes me excited. Since Jim put on that red jacket, it means that even if he firmly believes in the faith of chaos, he must move forward.
At the end of the film, Plato refused to accept the jacket before and even offered it when Jim asked him if he needed his red jacket, can I keep it. I believe Plato also wants to resist the world as bravely as Jim.
The final outcome is Plato's death. I think the director's arrangement is to remind everyone that no matter how you question and rebel, you must be responsible for your actions.
Rebellion looks cool, but without reason and responsibility, it is a crazy farce.
