Andrew Haigh Film Review and Narrative----N

I once wrote some film and television thoughts, whether on Weibo, WeChat or my own heart. More or less, I feel like I'm still in a "maybe a movie can change fate" age. So, if I want to watch a movie, I will work hard and watch it seriously, to understand it, and to ponder what mood, concept, or even thought this movie is going to convey to us. I personally don't have any fuss about the genre of the movie. It can be meaty or vegetarian, sweet or bitter, ugly or beautiful is my label for all videos. There are six areas in total, which can be interspersed or overlapped, and can be set individually or mixed. Simple and simple let me appreciate everything about the film. I have been looking for the first formal film review to write, I think it should be the one that makes me feel more easily.

It's my personal favorite movie. I know that some people here may think: "Then the landlord must be gay". Ok. I'll leave this aside for now. Then someone will say. "Ha, it's the default if you don't know what to say?" So. . . what?

Director Andrew Haigh has his own characteristics in the process of expressing the film. Many of his films, such as "45 Years 45th Anniversary" and HBO's "Looking Search", have a kind of talkative spirit. As soon as I talk about talking tuberculosis, I think of the "Love Is" trilogy (,,)series. This movie is also one of my favorite movies. The director of the series is Richard Linklater, Resident! Of course! It's the director of "Boyhood Boyhood"! Holy Moly! According to a certain film reviewer [1], the content of the film is that one film after another is time-lag, and Hollywood has almost patiently filmed a film with almost zero difference in one step. Of course, this also explains the fact that the male protagonist of Mao's "Love Is" series and the father of the male protagonist of "Boyhood" are the same person. . . Anyway. A classic that can't be more classic.

"Weekend Weekend Time" tells the story of a boy who went to a bar on the way home from a dinner with his best friends and met another boy. Then 419. Then it sparked conversation after conversation. From the structure of the film, the complete film, in Guo Degang's words, is: there are fronts and backs, there are burdens and connotations, it is free from vulgarity, and the dog has blood. Of course that's what I said. Recently, I like Mr. Guo's realm. I feel that the world is indifferent, with a sharp eye to Xingzhou. Although there is a mouth full of helplessness, I am willing to cheer up and face the unknown.

There are two parts of this movie that stuck out to me. In fact, these two scenes are different but connected on the timeline. It was Russell (Tom Cullen) who went to Glen (Chris New)'s farewell party, after which the two quietly left. R asked, why did you sneak out, and you haven't even said goodbye to your friends. G said, I don't do goodbyes. I remembered how I felt after graduating from college. I knew that everyone had to separate from each other, but I was calm but also panicked. I tried to persuade myself to stay until the end and accept everyone's goodbye to me. But in the end I had earlier escaped from everything that was already familiar. No goodbyes, no crying and sighing. It's as natural as flushing the toilet after going to the toilet. Then the two of them walked and chatted all the way. On the bus, R asked G, your friends don't seem to support you very much, why? G said they didn't understand me. Just my friends, sometimes they like, a noose around my neck. It's like when you've had same friends for too long, they become like eveything becomes cemented. They won't let you be any version of yourself except an old version. No one wants to know they're in the shit. If they see you trying to crawl out, they're very happy to drag you back in. Then R laughed and joked, oh ha ha, is that what you want to do now? You're trying to drag yourself out of the shit. G said, I'm trying to redraw myself. And everyone want to hide my pencil. Then I went to the amusement park to play with bumper cars. Heart to heart, sometimes, I feel like Glen, I want to do too many things, I want to be a singer, I want to be a painter, I want to be a writer, I want to invent, engage in technology, explore the universe, when A knowledgeable and experienced professor. Whether it is reality or friends, it will make you feel a little restrained. Of course see I want XX. . I can't help but want to spray myself, it's so beautiful. BUT, this is not the point. For example, you are eating, chatting, drinking and talking in a circle of friends, and suddenly you use your wine to express an idea that you have been holding in your heart. For example, when you are about to graduate from senior year, I said, my mother wants to I study. They asked me, do you want to take the test? I said I didn't want to, but my mom let me take the test. Then a harsh voice: You may not be able to pass the exam if you want to. You can only laugh naively, ahaha. Accompanied by the sound, and then the matter is turned over. Now I am a graduate student who got high marks in my ideal school, and now I forget who the person who laughs at me is. After graduating senior year, I was chatting with my best friend, and I said that since I was going to graduate school soon, I wanted to go abroad. I want to go out and see, see the world, change a way of life, experience life elsewhere, Go to meet different people. Say anything with strangers. Drink with people. Have a date with a girl maybe a guy. I don't think so In a foreign country, you can live a life of good food, drink and clothes, even if you are a homeless person, you eat relief when you are hungry, drink fountain water when you are thirsty, and sleep in the park when you are sleepy. I looked at my friend excitedly, my friend looked at me and stopped for a second, and then said, why don't you go to heaven? so. . . That's it. I'm not complaining that I've been treated badly or that no one understands me. Sometimes I also think about it myself, am I asking too much, my eyes are high and my hands are low, am I some idiots dreaming, toads want to eat swan meat? but. There are so many uncertainties in life. However, we put too much into our lives with certainty. So if there is a little uncertainty, it will be resisted, eliminated, or even strangled in the cradle. The two then talked about how Glen came out. Glen's language was "refreshing" describing how he came out, and at the end Glen said that since he (Glen's classmate) announced it to the whole school, I had no friends. R regretful viewer G, G said, You know what? R answer: You didn' t care! Glen: Exactly , I don't care. Whether you come out or be out, you need to face a huge change in your life, no doubt about it, no matter what country or culture. The fear that this creates is devastating. May the world be treated kindly. The next scene is the conversation between the two waking up from a dream. R is very envious of Glen for having such a life attitude, such courage, and the courage to live his own life. And R is just the person in the closet whose close friends know the true orientation. Every time R has a relationship with a person, it will be recorded, and the person's coming out process should be asked and recorded. Glen asked him were you out? R said that he did not come out with his parents. Glen said, have you ever tried to find your biological parents (R is an orphan)? R said, It doesn't mater, and it can't change anything. Glen said, why don't you think of me as your dad and come out with me. R said, So weird. Then R tried to come out to G: Dad, I have something to tell you. Glen:what's up? R:i'm gay. I like guys not girls. Glen:Well, son. It doesn't 't matter to me. I love you just the same. I couldn't be more proud of you than if you were the first man on the moon. The film has already begun to explain the end. The author will not explain how it ends. If you are interested, take a look. I've watched this film about a hundred times, it's complete, only the fragments are broken. Some lines have been memorized. Maybe it's my longing for this kind of life. Both of the leading actors have my own shadow on them. As I said, a movie can affect my life. But more of it affects my concepts and thoughts. An understanding of LGBT people and a desire to be a better version of yourself. I have always admired the kind of people who do what they want, have the courage and courage, regardless of the consequences, anyway, they are cool enough to talk about it. Due to the character, maybe I will never be able to do this, and I can only watch the movie and hope.

Director Andrew Haigh's works all reflect the difference in thinking in the conversation between the two people. From the details of the conversation, the content of the conversation drives the development of the plot. Just like "45 Years 45th Anniversary", in the conversation, in the inquiry, Build and perfect your characters in the rowdy, and if you dive into it, you can even feel like you're chatting with the other person. And the "Looking Search" series is also directed by Andrew, but it is HBO! So there will be some HBO features! So if this makes your blood flow. Ok. That should be a matter of course, although it is a pity to be cut. However, in the final big movie "Looking·Searching", the director's characteristics are more prominent, and we will discuss with you at an opportune time in the future.
The world is big, and your heart is full of all kinds of voices, and you may not find the spot to be yourself. No matter how. You try to put in the effort to be who you are. As my profile says: To be the man who you want to be. Don't be afraid. Live yourself and be happy .

Weekend quotes

  • Glen: Well, you know what it's like when you first sleep with someone you don't know?

    Russell: Yes.

Glen: It's... you, like, become this blank canvas and it gives you an opportunity to project onto that canvas who you want to be. That's what's interesting because everybody does that.

Russell: So do you think that I did it?

Glen: Course you did. Well, what happens is while you're projecting who you want to be... this gap opens up between who you want to be and who you really are. And in that gap, it shows you what's stopping you becoming who you want to be.

  • Glen: Do you ever think about finding your parents?

    Russell: No, not really.

    Glen: Why not?

Russell: I don't really see the point. You know, I don't think it would change anything.

Glen: Why don't I pretend to be your dad and you can come out to me?

Russell: [laughs] That is SO weird.

Glen: Just ignore the fact we just had sex.

Russell: I don't think I can. Guess I'll try. Ok.

    [looks Glen in the eye]

Russell: Dad? I got something I need to tell you.

Glen: [pretending to be Russell's dad] What's that?

    Russell: I'm gay.

    Glen: [pretends to think] Hmm.

Russell: I like guys, not girls.

Glen: [breathes out slowly] Well. You know what, son. It doesn't matter to me. I love you just the same. And guess what?

    Russell: What?

Glen: I couldn't be more proud of you than if you were the first man on the moon.
