Moisturizing is silent

After struggling for a long time to start the title, the language is really lacking. For the time being, I will use Du Fu's phrase "moisturizing things without sound". I think this movie is like many similar movies I have seen. It is a spring rain that nourishes the heart. It's been a long time since I downloaded it, and I lay quietly on the F drive of my computer. I just finished reading it one after another from last night to today. The film begins with the piano score, and then there are several minutes of empty footage, and the lake scenery spreads out. As the two old people drove to the holiday cottage, we could tell from the conversation that the old lady was very optimistic, but the old man was unhappy.

In fact, I am used to reading the introduction before watching the movie, so I knew in advance that this movie is about the bridging of the father-daughter relationship. However, the slow rhythm of the first half of the film did not let the story go straight to the theme, but slowly told the vacation daily life of the old couple. The two talked about "aging" and "death", rafting on the lake to watch water birds, playing checkers, and going out shopping... The most impressive thing is that Ethel asked Norman to pick strawberries. Said it was so unfamiliar, he panicked. Norman came back and confessed to his wife: "Do you know why I was in such a hurry to come back? I came to the end, but I couldn't remember the way to Old Town. I walked into the woods, everything was so unfamiliar, I was scared to death. . That's why I ran back to see you—and seeing your pretty face made me feel safe and secure." Ethel comforted his wife and said, "It's alright, confused. You're exactly the same as before... Still so fond of joking with old Charlie. After lunch and when we're done with those damn strawberries, we're going for a walk down that old town road we've walked a thousand times, a thousand times, You will remember. Listen to me, you will always be my handsome prince charming. Remember my words. One day you will ride on that horse and I will sit behind you and hold you tightly, we Let's move forward together, run, run!" The two were close to each other, and the next scene was the setting sun, and the warmth flowed slowly.

There are too many such details in the film, and my poor vocabulary cannot fully express the emotion that touches me. How fortunate to have each other, and to be able to be with each other in the twilight years.

The subsequent love between grandparents and grandchildren, father and daughter, also slowly flowed in the sparkling lake scenery. American warmth, joking, witty and subtle. It is different from Korean-style warmth, such as a heavy tear gas bomb, which makes you burst into tears with the performance of the actors; it is not like Japanese-style warmth, such as the breeze blowing your face, the wind sending flowers, and you are moved into your heart. The story of "Golden Pond" is very common, which is to embody the emotions between those people in nature, so that the audience can feel those indescribable powerful forces.

Excerpted from another bean friend's film review:

A few memorable clips are: Norman suddenly showed a bewildered old age in the woods; Norman had an accident and his wife jumped into the water to save him; he caught dead water birds and live big fish When they were all released; of course, the old man had a heart attack, which almost ended in tragedy. Everyone will face aging and departure, and no one is immune. For that kind of complete loss, there is nothing we can do, and no one can escape the fear in our hearts. Norman can't escape this question, so he's bewildered by it. Time is merciless, but it's not scary. -- please smile

And the movie review attached to the Baidu Encyclopedia entry:

"Golden Pond" is a classic American literary film with a delicate and authentic touch. There is an air of gentleness that hangs over the entire film from start to finish. The opening of the film is similar to that of "The Notebook", and the warm-toned pictures are very similar to Christmas cards. And those foul language, humor, coldness and false alarm make the film full of elasticity. The narrative of the film is also indifferent and leisurely, with extreme warmth. Although the story of the film is very simple and can be described in a few words, the subtle and fickle feelings between people make it difficult to explain ("Market Herald" review)
"Golden Pond" explores the psychological crisis of the elderly in the face of death and aging in a soothing way, showing the true meaning and true feelings of life. The strong family affection and faint melancholy reflected in the film, coupled with the beautiful and exquisite pictures and the refreshing music, all bring the audience a sense of aftertaste. The unfolding of the film's plot is always gradually presented in the picturesque golden pond. The beautiful pond shows different colors and gestures in different scenes, reflecting different tastes and insights of life (Sina Review)
"Golden Pond" is a movie that belongs to the actors. Because the director chose the right actors, the film's brilliance has been increased ("Market Herald" commented). Henry Fonda used his superb acting skills to interpret the old stubborn in the film without showing any traces. And Katharine Hepburn used her unique slightly exaggerated performance to convince an old lady who is full of love for life and enthusiasm for her family (Sina Review)

Thinking of the real story between Henry Fonda and Jane Fonda's father and daughter behind the film, as well as the various situations during the filming process, I feel that this film is worth remembering. I haven't watched "Norman" and "Ethel" when they were young, and I know that these two actors are long gone, so I still feel very embarrassed. Movies are a magical thing that keeps a person the way they are, no matter how many years it takes.

We will always remember Norman, who is firm on the outside and soft on the inside, and Ethel, who is infinitely warm.

On Golden Pond quotes

  • Billy Ray: A canoe! Just like the Indians used.

Norman: Actually, the Indians used a different grade of aluminum.

  • Bill Ray: You're having a good time, aren't you?

    Norman: Huh?

Bill Ray: Chelsea told me all about how you like to have a good old time with people's heads. She does too, sometimes. Sometimes I can get into it and sometimes not. I think you should know, I'm pretty good at recognizing crap when I hear it. You know, it's not imperative that you and I become friends. I thought it would be nice. I'm sure you're a very fascinating person, and I thought it would be fascinating getting to know you. That's obviously not an easy task... No. You just go ahead and be... as poopy as you want, to quote Chelsea, and I'll be as receptive and as pleasant as I can be. But I want you to bear one thing in mind while you're jerking me around, making me feel like an asshole. I know precisely what you're up to. I'll take just so much of it. Ok?... Now what is the bottom line on this illicit sex question?

Norman: Very good. That was a good speech. Bottom line, huh? You're a bottom line man? All right, here's the bottom line... Okay.

    Bill Ray: Hm?

Norman: You seem like a nice man. A bit verbose, but nice...

    Bill Ray: Thank you.

Norman: ...and you're right about me. I am fascinating.

Bill Ray: I'm sure you are.

Norman: Let's get back to talking about sex... anything you want to know, just ask me.

Bill Ray: No, I just... uh, I just wanted to clear up that little question. Chelsea and I can sleep together, right?

    Norman: Sure, please do.

    [pauses, resumes reading]

Norman: Just don't let Ethel catch you.
