In the world of movies, cheer for yourself. This is the original reason for me to watch movies, I love movie stories, they give me the opportunity to broaden my horizons, enjoy the visual impact, and most importantly, wake me up to the dark hidden deep, and then recover myself. So I put a lot of emphasis on the content of the film. I like this movie, because it first gave me visual enjoyment and let me experience the joy of flying. At the same time, it also made me think deeply about my life.
Scientific research needs financial support. Without funds, everything is empty talk. The male protagonist James was in the era of 1962 and faced the problem of shortage of funds, and the sky and atmospheric problems he wanted to study could not be done with telescopes every day. It would be of high value if he needed on-the-spot inspection and real data testing.
At first, James wanted to apply to institutions through speeches, hoping to get funding. But everyone did not support his idea, and even laughed at his pursuit, and even appeared in the newspapers to humiliate his delusions. But in the process of such group ridicule, he is still looking for a way to the sky.
Through hard work, he found the former female pilot Emilia. The new type of woman she fell for when her husband was killed during a hot air balloon flight. She lived in a time when women's rights were very limited. Women are like appendages to men, they are bound and have no professional value at all, even her own sister thinks so. She believes that the happiness and joy she felt during the flight all came from her husband who was by her side.
In a way, Emilia is lonely, and she understands the prejudice against women of the times. It can be seen from when Emilia goes to James to reject him in person. The research institution where James works does not allow women to show up, and asks her to wait outside. With Emilia's wisdom, she subtly blocked their words before they could speak, and then left without looking back, found James, and refused his request to fly again.
Emilia's calm atmosphere is not something she just naturally possesses. This is because she clearly understands her pursuit and her own value, so she has this confidence.
Because of Emilia's refusal, James seems to have fallen from heaven to hell again. But he didn't admit defeat. He wanted to go to the commercial route for funding, but was severely humiliated by the businessman, who also humiliated Emilia incidentally.

In return for commercial support, we see Emilia's exaggerated appearance at the beginning of the film. It can be said that she is a very intelligent woman. She can use herself to achieve what she wants. If you think about it, those who can get to this point are all people who can afford to let go.
After the hot air balloon took off, it encountered the cumulonimbus for the first time. This is the first time James has experienced the danger in the sky. Although Emilia almost fell in this incident. But she couldn't see any fright, enough to see Emilia's rich flight experience and strong psychological quality. In the end, they broke through the dark clouds and bathed in the warm sunshine. They experienced the happiness of the rest of their lives after the catastrophe, and felt free and carefree in the sky.
When they got to the record breaking point, Emilia asked to return, which is another point that touched me. James vowed not to miss this opportunity to explore, because such an opportunity was too rare, and the sky closer to the stars was so attractive that he was willing to pay the price of his life for it.

Emilia faced the same dilemma that her husband had on his last flight. And she has to jump out of a hot air balloon to save James just like her husband.
